Hirsch has said he regrets not having more clear rules about that, given how important Ford's extra fingers became.

So many callbacks stuffed into every frame of Mabelland, which gives the whole show so much more rewatch value. And I have to take a stand against the people who say the ending represents Mabel pushing Dipper away from his dream life, conveniently leaving out that she tells him totally unprompted she'd be fine with him doing it. There's plenty legit stuff to criticize her for if you want, why make up things?

The judge is voiced by Jon Stewart, in the only acting role he's done since the horrible flop of Doogal in 2006 convinced him to drop that side of his career. He was the one who convinced Hirsch the show should have a proper conclusion and not just be ended after the first season, and got this role to thank him for it.

Elijah, now that you’re officially almost done with Gravity Falls, I would like to be honest for a moment. As much as much as I absolutely enjoy your work and your reactions, I must say, I was really surprised by your resentment towards Mabel. Hear me out. Sorry if it gets too long. When you first started this show, I was so sure that you were going to hit it off with her. She’s a big weirdo, she likes goofing off, she has a wild imagination, she’s passionate about art, she loves animals, she hates lying, she’s a big shipper, she’s optimistic, she loves making people happy, she seemed right up your alley. I’m not saying that she’s a perfect character, by any means. You are right that she has plenty of flaws. But honestly, those flaws just make me love her even more. They make her seem more real. Which makes sense, considering she’s based on a real person, Ariel Hirsch. Yes, she can be selfish sometimes, but as you once said about Catra, “if we were to be held accountable for everything that we’ve done in our past, we’d all be in Hell.” And let’s face it, as much as I also love Catra, the things she did were infinitely worse than anything Mabel did. When i think about it, I think Mabel is to a lot of us what Luz is to you. Seeing Mabel bezazzle her own face, dance with her pig, make her first friends, become a congressman, and get high on smile dip showed a lot of us how fun it is to be a complete goofball. Yeah, she talks about boys a lot, but she does it in the most Mabel way possible. And that’s what makes it special for her. It’s something she really cares about, which many people I know can relate to. And she’s still capable of mature moments as we see in “The Golf War” where she ended her feud with Pacifica, and “Not What He Seems” where she ends up making the biggest decision in the show to trust Stan, which ultimately saved Ford. This, along with episodes like “The Boss Mabel” and Bottomless Pit” show Mabel having her first real glimpses of the difficulties of adulthood, which mirrors Dipper learning to appreciate his youth instead of trying so hard to grow up early. And as I said in a previous comment, I have a goofball sibling of my own, so seeing the highs and lows of our relationship represented on screen by Dipper and Mabel really makes me smile. Let me make something clear. I am not trying to push you to change your opinion. If you read all of this and decide that you’re still not the biggest fan of Mabel, that is 100% fine. I just want you to understand why so many of us love and connect with her so much. In any case, I’m glad that you seem to be warming up to her a bit more, if only a little bit. Personally, I adore Mabel and I always will, flaws and all. Sorry for rambling. I just really wanted to get that off my chest. Anyway, now that you’re almost done with the show, I highly recommend the Between the Pines GF special. It’s pretty interesting seeing what went on behind the scenes in this show. I can’t wait to see you watch the finale. And I’m super excited to see what you’ll do next.

So after watching this reaction and knowing how Mabel annoys you a lot. Just wanna say you not only handled this episode extremely well, but brought your own good inputs to everything. Plus your disdain for bugs was the cherry on top>

Your and Moscoe's reactions to this series have helped me be more critical of Mabel's character, but despite that I still mostly like her. I do wish they had her be a bit more selfless and sacrifice more for Dipper overall, but I also don't mind her flaws. Just that they were focused on more often than they should have been. I also do not blame her for any of Weirdmageddon because she was in an emotionally vulnerable state and was never made aware of the rift. Another aspect of Ford's paradoxical overcautiousness, but also recklessness. She also wasn't even the one to break it, she just thought it was an ingredient for whatever she thought Blendin was going to do. Anyways all that aside, I absolutely love your Scorbunny plush! So so cute! Al of the gifts were cute, but another fave were the sapphic ships. Luz and Amity dressed as Team Aqua and Magma members was my fave out of those. I always thought her sailor outfit reminded me of Team Aqua anyway lol Edit: I just thought of this now, but Bill technically did honour his deal with Mabel. He tricked her, and the world being a paradise to her is a clever way to keep her contained, but she is basically getting to enjoy her summer forever. It's devilishly clever, honestly.

It also very much feels like her not remembering exactly how she was tricked into giving the rift to Bill is Hirsch realizing he didn't have nearly enough time left to properly deal with the emotion of that from Dipper, so he just skipped past it. And it seems he agrees it was a cop-out, since one of the sequel comics casually reveals that Mabel did tell Dipper what happened, and they've worked through it.
