Sorry I have to blur the specific "fun" scenes even on here! Patreon has rules about explicit content we still have to follow.

I specifically started watching the show last night just in case you reacted to it today. This is going to be interesting, lol

Okay so some pertinent background information you might want to know. The TV series, Heated Rivalry, is based on a queer romance book series called Game Changers (also title of first book). It is written by Rachel Reid, who is an out bisexual gay smut author, they are married to their partner, also bisexual. Jacob Tierney (a very high profile gay actor/director in Canada) is the creator, writer, director, and head producer of the show. He bought the rights to the books after falling in love with them during covid. So this show has been deemed the most faithful book adaptation turned TV series , maybe ever. Actors: Shane - Hudson Williams (Canadian) Ilya - Connor Storie (American from Texas) Connor got the part and learned Russian only 3 weeks out from start of filming. Hudson plays Shane as autistic. Tho it is never explicitly said in the show or the books . Rachel did give this information to Jacob and Hudson during preproduction. As she claims she wrote Shane's character with that in mind and wanted it reflected in the show. The book, Heated Rivalry, spans 9 years and in this first episode we go through 2 years of their developing relationship. The scene outside, where they met, the characters are canonically 17 years old.

You comparing this to Yuri on Ice had me cracking up, that's exactly what I thought of too🤣

AAAA i seriously loved this show way more than i expected i hope you enjoy it too

Ilya had trouble with the long questions the reporter was asking. His English wasn’t that good yet. So Shane helped him.

There is actually a sapphic equivalent of this currently in production. It's an adaptation of "Cleat Cute", by Meryl Wilsner.

1) I'm so glad you're watching this show! I've seen a few lesbians react to this show, and they're still a little awkward when watching two dudes going at it (almost how hetero dudes who aren't fully accepting would react), and I'm glad you're just watching it like normal. 2) Has someone explained to Elijah about Shane and his splash of the 'Tism? If not, Shane is canonically (undiagnosed) autistic. So, the actor who plays Shane (Hudson Williams) knows Shane is autistic, and the character is written as autistic, but Shane himself doesn't. This is brilliantly portrayed throughout the show (in my opinion) and will definitely explain some of Shane's more awkward social interactions along the way. They're his own sweet little easter eggs for you to spot while watching the show.

I’m glad you liked it; it will get even better as the relationship develops. The vibe you got in the beginning that Shane might not actually be that much into the sport is probably because the character is somewhat on the autistic spectrum. (Not a spoiler as they don’t really address it in the show; Shane is just written and portrait that way.) Edit: Of course others had already mentioned Shane’s autism. I just forgot to reload the page after having to leave a few hours ago.

Queen of Fandom trash

Yeah when I started watching this my first thought is this Yuri on ice but it’s hockey 😂

Adrian ruiz martinez

NamelessSoul

Excited to see what you think! Like everyone I got caught in the hype and it is a great show that does ofen times feel exactly like a fanfiction XD

Amanda P

Haha it seriously feels like you're invading their privacy 😂 I wanna go like this: 🫣 Also ma'am please upload these as soon as possible haha, this show is sooooo good! Can't wait to see your journey with it And yes ilya is such a little shit, his humor and one liners 😂

Chris P3

It looks like a second season of The Hunting Wives should come out later this year.

Glad you are reacting to Heated Rivalry ^^ As for your gaydar, quite a few "straight" characters make mine go off in this show and I assume that's because the actor playing them probably isn't straight, but the role they got in the show was a straight character. I imagine a lot of gay actors would have come to a casting call for a gay show, but there are more than just gay roles to be filled.

Nightowl

That’s an interesting idea; I wonder how many supporting roles in shows are filled by actors who originally auditioned for one of the leading roles.

If you want explicit sapphic media try Honey, Don't! the Aubrey Plaza film and Mrs Fletcher the Kathryn Hahn show. Although I don't know if Mrs Fletcher is sapphic only. Also I swear Heated Rivalry is based on real life Rivals to Wives Julie Chu and Caroline Ouellette. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DSDzIVklB6f/?hl=en

i knew itd be censored but i didnt think itd be that censored lolll

K

I think the whole series actually started out as RPF. So yeah, don’t let your dreams be dreams

Marisa Jo Miller-McDowell

It’s interesting that some reaction videos show the whole thing uncut and uncensored and some blur like you do

Amber

Was wondering the same thing, and now by myself disappointed. I subscribe to her channel because I always enjoy her reactions and was excited to see that she reacted to this. But now I wish I had known that even on Patreon, the scenes were blurred out. I’ll never understand why some reactors show the whole thing and others don’t, it makes no sense. And if they are going to blur on paid content, they really should say so. Really disappointed.

Alice Yacono

She explains at the beginning of the video it’s because her Patreon account is not considered 18+ by Patreon so she has to abide by the rules.
