Fun fact: when this show first came out, I dismissed it as “dumb girly stuff” that I had no interest in. Then I saw a clip on YouTube where someone cut Fluttershy shouting at the dragon with the “THIS IS SPARTA!” audio clip from 300. And I was like “ok… I’m curious now.”

Yippe!!!! More mlp!!! And honestly I couldn't help and laugh too when that dragon started to talk when I first heard him. I also thing the way he was talking was just way too fun, especially the way he was crying. The VA did a great job on the dragon LOL

Another background pony the fans latched onto hard here. While Fluttershy is trying to warn everyone at the start, there's a green pony sitting on a bench human-style, and they ran with naming her Lyra Heartstrings, who's obsessed with these mythical creatures called humans and sometimes even wants to become one. Mind you, just like with Derpy Hooves NONE of this was ever supported by anything in the show itself. That's just the kind of fans it had.

Fluttershy's voice is much closer to Andrea Libman's natural one than you'd expect, with her putting much more work into Pinkie, to the point that they needed to get a separate singing voice for Pinkie but she could do Fluttershy's singing herself. She's talked about how she was very insecure about her voice as a child and people kept assuring her that one day she'd stop sounding like she was on helium, but it never happened and she's learned to make the best of it.

Weirdly enough, in age, Fluttershy is the oldest one, equivalent of being like 23-24 years old next to Rarity, so everyone calling her little baby is funny since is the oldest of the mane6 If im not mistaking in order is Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkiepie, Applejack, Twilight and Rainbow Dash, may be pinkie and aj backwards... RD being the youngest like a 18-20 years old

I watch along with Mosco and made some comments there about this being a glimpse of spikes possible future in terms of strength. Dragons are in almost all lores and cultures apex beings one step from godhood often both physically and with magic. This dragon barely awake defeated all of them by yelling and breathing smoke. Had he used fire or fist they would all be dead. But now I think this could be a glimpse of spikes possibly sad story as a creature that can sleep for a century as a nap can likely live for millenia. Spike may well outlive everyone he knows and loves save the princesses. He could be in for a sad ending.

Ah, the first of three eps that are generally held up as both the best of this season, but also the point where people say the show fully hooked them, and it is a good one! In the original plan, Lauren wanted the show to be a more or less equal mix of 'adventure' episodes like this, and regular slice of life ones, but the adventure focused ones ended up needing too much time and budget compared to the SoL ones so they became rarer. But they also tend to be all the more fun for it. Meanwhile, we continue fleshing out the hidden depths of the Mane 6. Fluttershy may be timid, and the equine personification of anxiety.... but there is a core of adamant underneath all that that will NOT let anyone hurt those she cares about! Oh, and if you think Angel is a furry little shit now.... hoooooooo boy.

I'm honestly completely with Fluttershy in this one. Even the tiny jump across that gap. If you're as scared of heights as I am it doesn't matter if it's a just a foot wide because you're brain is too busy imagining falling to your death anyways, or the rock crumbling, or a million other things, and freezing up your entire body. I'm speaking from experience there.
