I’m so happy you watched it! Personally, I love it because I’ve been through the exact same thing. And I love how it’s executed so realistically, and it low-key just made me love stoles even more cause it just made me feel like my experience was normal. Not bad nor good. Just things happen and it’s okay :)💗

Layan

Hi Elijah! I apologize for the unrelated comment on this video, but I wanted to ask if you’ll continue doing RWBY soundtrack livestreams after Helluva Boss & Avatar Seven Havens. Also, thank you so much for your content! I don’t comment very often, but I really love your reactions. ❤️

RaisedEyebrow

People seem to be split on Dirty Bird. That said, it's probably one of the most visually intense. The intercuts and blending of reality really amplifies how uncomfortable it feels. In a good way.

TonezTunes

IT hit so close to home with Poison with Angle dust. This hit so deeper with Dirty Bird

Jared Bichler

"If you love something, set it free: if it returns to you, it will be yours forever."

Satan, help the doctors when Millie goes into labor.

I appreciate the grounded in reality feel of this episode, but I’m pretty upset with Stolas, even if he’s my favorite. It makes sense that he doesn’t really take accountability but he shoulda talked with Blitz, and if he felt bad he shouldn’t of left that night and instead talked things out, but this is a show and there’s gotta be conflict. I just hope Stolas at least takes accountability or Blitz talks to him 🙏🏻 and when I saw the “miss me?” Pic on the phone I thought that was current (during song) which hurt me more, but if it’s an old pic that’s a bit better?

jessie H

When y’all’s show comes out, will you be doing reactions to it? This episode hurt

Miranda Corvus

I personally consider this an improvement in BDSM representation. 50 Shades was widely detested by the entire community for how they portrayed it. This unnamed dude however is a pretty good example of a proper dominant, even if he's on the extreme side. But hey, whatever consenting adults are into.

Crookie

This is definitely poison 2.0 but much healthier than poor Angels situation in Hazbin Hotel

Nadia Hynes

Oh god, I don’t even really know where to start when it comes to how this episode had me feeling?? It DEFINITELY made me cry seeing Blitz so sad at the end, but for personal reasons because I DO understand this feeling and I know what it’s like so that’s moreover why it made me cry the way it did but this one was definitely not an easy episode to get through for sure, especially since Blitz has become one of my top favorite characters in this series as it has progressed.

A

It makes me really sad that 50 Shades is so many peoples' benchmark for how BDSM works. It's not just bad representation - it's genuinely awful. In just about every way that it CAN be.

DarkDragon77

Not so fun fact, the gimpy gimpy plant earning its nickname “the suicide plant” supposedly comes from a report of an unlucky individual using the plant as toilet paper. On a lighter note, I very much enjoyed the positive representation of BDSM in this episode and how a relationship like that should be in reality rather than how it’s portrayed in media like you mentioned with 50 Shades.

Tristan Haller

I really appreciate the fine line Vivzie walks here, between making it clear that there's nothing wrong with BDSM or Stolas' kinky desires in and of themselves, while *also* demonstrating that *in this instance* Stolas is using his kinks effectively as an avenue of self-harm. Alas, there's a lot of the internet ignoring that fine line, because so many fandom discussions are allergic to nuance and need to have a bad guy.

Randomize

And the fact stolas brought the guy to blitz’s, apartment ontop of flirting with the guy in frount of blitz knowing he had feeling for stolas, just adds to the pain like I get stolas is going through a lot and that’s valid - but ouch that would hurt and is just tiny bit-disrespectful in my opinion to blitz for the flirting infrount of him and bring this guy to his apartment, but I know stolas is going through it and I’m trying to give him a break -but still the creators enjoy are suffering😭😭-butterscotch man 😂

BeastialMoon

I was at Animate!Philadelphia. I told Bryce, to his face, I thought his voice was really pretty and that he's a great singer. A week later this dropped. I don't think I can ever look him in the eyes again, I'd blush too hard 😖🥵

Ashley Sotelo

Personally my partner and I were wide eyed and opened mouthed throughout the entirety of Dirty Bird. We were so taken aback by the visuals and the lyrics. We agreed that it was so well done and an AMAZING song. We also immediately realized that yeah, Stoles was being incredibly self-destructive.

Cell VA

"Dirty Bird" as a song: from a storytelling/lyrical standpoint, really nailed it in the emotional side of the story. Loved that. Visually... I am a little too vanilla for that. But, definitely a good dom. That ending with Stolas and Blitzø freaking tore into my soul. I don't know how to feel about Stolas right now. He kinda pissed me off, ngl.

Pupcakes562

When biltz breaks the pot you can see the moment where he's about to lose it, but he catches himself from destroying things and cleans up his mess. Shows character growth in my opinion (my heart broke when I saw this episode 💔)

Suplee215

Really love this wpisode despite how angsty it is. With regards to Stolas's scenes (the bdsm type) i think it going take another episode or two to see how his mental state is treating them. It depends on how much of the scenes are roleplay and how much isnt. With the right mindset, the scenes could be a healthy way of working through the feelings of worthlessness in a safe and controlled environment. I thibk its at least starting that way Can see complications arise

Liam Gradwell

Dirty Bird is not just living rent free, it’s getting a full on mortgage in my mind. 💙

rüya sertkaya

holly shit! your singing voice is amazing!

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah either way it's at least *somewhat* cathartic af for him

Phoenix_mercury

Absolutely, should be renamed 50 shades of abuse🤷

Phoenix_mercury

Agreed, more like 50 shades of abused, also props to Stolas finding what seems to be an awesome Dom!

Suplee215

Yup. Might become an addiction type problem I sont think it will. I think the blitz and stolas issues is alm the angst needed fornthis

BakaSama

If Satan is smart, he’ll be no where near her. I think even Roo would be terrified of Millie in labor.

Phoenix_mercury

Grabbed my comment from Elijah's video: While yes Stolas isn't entirely in a positive mindset him being properly introduced to bdsm is clearly at least *somewhat* cathartic now that he has an actual outlet(previously it was a shameful thing with his royal standing that had to be kept hidden etc) and he's *obviously* genuinely enjoying himself, loved this ep so much, and no I'm not pissed off/upset at Stolas either. Loona asked him this very ep is he and her dad are together, he clearly statees they're not. He's allowed to hook-up with people, everything went to shit because of timing 🤷 Stolas didn't have change to explain his new activities to blitzø who found out in a painful way Vs Stolas being able to sit him down and explain "hey, we're not together, I'm not looking for a relationship currently however I miss being touched but theirs too many emotions involved with our past currently so I've been enjoying casual hook-ups" yes blitzo would likely have still been hurt but nowhere near as much as finding out how he did, and no none of this means that blitzø isn't allowed to be hurt, it's understandable that he would be with the type of person he is🤷

Shay

I think it will become one purely from the foreshadowing of the hellanovella Stolas watches(the main girl usually reflects Stolas' feeling and actions and in this episode she was addicted to that)

Shay

Emphasis on the Loona discussion thing, I feel like way too many people are forgetting that him and Loona had a whole conversation before all the shit started😭 (Side note: also, Blitz still sucks at communicating just as much as Stolas, a whole lot of this coulda been avoided by just saying what he actually wanted to do for Stolas😅)

Suplee215

Fair Nice catch. The only reason I thibk it wont is this is such a positive showing of bdsm stuff that that might undermine that. Also depends on how long they draw blitz and stolas out

Phoenix_mercury

Exactly, Stolas is doing *nothing* wrong. Yes blitzø was hurt, but I feel like most of that is because of *how* he found out about stolas's new activities. They are *technically* roommates, stolas wasn't lying about that, they are not together, stolas doesn't(currently) want them to be together, Stolas doesn't want anything serious but still wants touch, which is is allowed to want. Stolas is single, stolas doesn't want anything serious, stolas wants touch, they're not a one or the other, it feels like some people only want Stolas to be getting any touch from blitzø and if it's anyone else then he's cheating which is objectively false, loona specifically checked before helping him with all this "I thought you and my dad were..." And she gets a clear no from him. And yes, blitzø absolutely also sucks, I feel like Stolas would have actually probably been curious and potentially even excited if blitzø had been "hey, we're gonna be out a little longer as I want to look for a plant(showing that he pays attention to what stolas likes) to get as present for you, hopefully it won't be too long and we'll we back soon" he doesn't even need to say what plant(leaving stolas curious about what blitzø chose for him)

DatCupcake

There was a leak of the song titles a while back and, though I didn't look too much because I didn't wanna spoil things for myself, "Dirty Bird" caught my eye. I guessed it was gonna be a cute little back and forth song with some playful raunchiness. NOPE! 🥵 I was... definitely feeling things when I saw this for the first time.

Kassy

I was really nervous to watch this episode. I kinda got spoiled. People online where saying about how much they dislike Stolas. I didn't know what he did but after watching the episode, I get why they hate him now. I don't hate him, I get it but at the time. I'm like, Stolas why! You hurt bliz so much! I'm not mad but very disappointed in you. I'm so sad. I hope they can get through this.

Caitlin Conway

I LOVE this episode even though it REALLY hurt to watch. I have at one point in my life BEEN both Stolas and Blitzø. I mean, obviously totally different situations! But I have FELT that super depressed I dont care because I am so numb kind of depression Stolas is going through and I have also been in Blitz's shoes of trying hard to do something nice for someone else and going way out of your way to do something kind and then they just..... totally dont even notice and disregard and then dont appreciate it and say they didnt want it and so you're just like well..... Im never trying again! My mistake.... So like.... Its so painful this show has made me cry multiple times but it is also kind of validating in a way to see REAL emotions that I have PERSONALLY felt being portrayed on TV. Its almost cathartic in a way. I cant wait to see what happens next! Though I know from the trailer its gonna be a bit more arguing from them so I dont think we'll resolve their problems just yet but hopefully by the end of the season? Idk. I kinda predict Stolas will keep going out with other guys buy eventually realize he only wants Blitz to do those things. And I also have a feeling Blitz might go out with other people only to realize he just wants Stolas. So maaaaaybe they'll figure it out. Idk though. This show is a lot of heartbreak 🤣😂

SauceyRed

12:58 I actually didn't pick up on her referring to Blitzø as "dad", that's awesome!

Holly Chaisson

I don't know how this show made me love Blitz so much that I cried at the last scene, feeling bad for him

Elena plionis

Ass-rail-ya No, that’s where Stolas spent his week 🤣

John

aww its a shame you didn't also listen to the ending song

Yaboiroshi

And here I thought gimpy was a play at bdsm. ..whelllpp.

Dieter Hornach

Poison 2.0 is a wrong read of dirty bird (glad that you realized the obvious difference), yes there is a self destructive vibe but that doesnt mean its completely negative, this is definitely also healing for stolas. Catharsis and self harm can often times overlap. Two Things can be true at once even if they seem to conflict. I also love blitzøs growth in that final scene, calming down letting the tears flow and saving the plant - he is hurt but not giving up!

Swëët Süccubüs

OMG I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU REACT TO THE NEW EPISODES!! I think your gunna be so conflicted. I know i am 😭🥺

Carven Ridge

Wow. Angel Dust and Stolas got ALOT in common 😳😳😳🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣

I’ve only seen bits and pieces of *Fifty Shades of Grey*, but that was enough to put me off anything related to BDSM—and sexuality in general—until I took the time to explore the subject a bit more on my own. I was genuinely surprised to find that both the book (or rather, the summary I wasted my time listening to) and the film presented this particular form of "bedroom recreation"—if I may call it that—in such an absurdly poor way. The only issue now is that I can’t seem to find a partner willing to give it a try; I’m not exactly as "intense" as characters like Blitz or Stolas, but in general, I get the impression that it’s quite difficult to convince someone to explore this. Besides, "no" means "no," so if I get a refusal, I usually don’t bring it up again—unless it’s in a joking context. Sorry for the long-winded post, but I felt a sudden surge of honesty—even if the people reading this couldn't care less about 50% of what I’ve written.

Ryan

It has been [ 0 ] days since Elijah suggested husbands letting their wives peg them. If baby imps already have horns and are born head first like humans... ouch. I have zero first hand experience with BDSM but there are parallels to HEMA and self-called tournaments. You pick your partner, you define the scope of the bout, you call it when you receive a blow, and if anyone yells "HOLD!", everyone stops. If you are being safe, being respectful, it's a wonderful time, despite the bruises. If you're being a dick, nobody will want to spar with you. Dirty Bird is extremely well done. The first, second, and tenth rule of animation is "get reference" ... so I am very curious what the animators did to get reference. If this had been live action you bet your bottom (pun intended) they would have had an intimacy coordinator. I wonder if they had one for this? Obviously someone on the crew must have had to be in the know to choreograph the encounter.

Noctyrath

A great episode; it’s very intense, and I think the whole thing is very well directed

Vince

24:53 Why was I even fucking nervous, I should’ve known Elijah would immediately get it. Yes. Exactly. This is Stolas engaging in self harm but ONLY because *HE* is being an unsafe sub, using this to genuinely *be punished* but it just so happens he’s Into That Shit so yeah, of course he’s having fun at the same time. It’s like anything else, the thing itself (in this case, BDSM) is NOT bad or wrong, it’s how you engage with it that can make it a problem. tl;dr—this discourse is basically “what do you MEAN the MESSY QUEERS were MESSY on the MESSY QUEERS SHOW?!” eta: YEAH DIRTY BIRD IS INTENSE AS FUCK and oh my god thank you—the cuts between Blitzø and Stolas during the song, like no, this is who he SHOULD be doing these things with but he fucking *can’t*, not yet, there’s so much shit they both have to reckon with.

Willow 404

Dirty Bird and Rope (the song during the credits) has pretty much been on repeat in my head.

Matthew Dunne

Incidentally, Mammon's dialogue in the Amazon version has been uncensored.

I've heard the song before before the episode aired I will say it's not as I'm not seeing what the music video so I don't know I will watch this and but I don't think it's as graphic as poison from husband because what the lyrics are on par with a band that I really enjoy listening to called Citizen Soldier and one of their songs is called it's called serious I know and just some contacts citizen is a system Soldier is a mental health band and the lyrics are tell me just did over this one more time say it to my face or do you cross that line you couldn't take the demons that I am forced to hide so keep running your mouth I'm going to lose I'm going to lose my mind cuz I'm a different kind of Hell there's a story I can't tell I'm a suicide note that no one sees I'm a suicide note that no one sees cuz I'm tell the Stars alone I'm making stars that just at judged I'm a suicide note that no one sees Friday and every word that's mocking me where is poison it's like you should in the winter it's about like physical and mental and sexual abuse and let you listen to the song you listen to the song obviously but it's like when you listen to it as much as I have it's like not a bubble up to touch in another lover underneath the flashing lights another one of those ruthless nights like you get it

Black Fire

"If more husbands let their wives peg them maybe they would be more relaxed. Maybe the world wouldnt be so uptight" That's my quote of the week right there. It's crazy when a demon in hell understands the concepts of consent and partner care better than many humans do. That guys was great. I really had mixed feelings about this episode. Stolas doesnt owe Blitzø a relationship but it was super messed up of him to have guys pick him up at Blitzø's place. He should have immediately texted the guy to wait for him outside or something.

Moonlight Kayla

YOU’RE DEMISEXUAL?!! SLAYYYY! Me too! I am so with you on the hookups breaking my heart 😭 You’re right. I am WAY too demisexual for this as well. 😂

Bailey

Might be my least favourite episode of the season, but I don't really have any major criticisms either. More just that it wasn't as engaging for me. But still one I mostly enjoyed. I think the situation with Blitzo and Stolas was sad and a little frustrating, but in a way that makes sense. Like, of course Blitzo would react the way he did, but also Stolas has every right to have hookups. He and Blitz aren't in a relationship, though with how Blitz is he should haven't have let the guy meet him to their place. Next episode wraps up this conflict though so we didn't have to sit on it for long. Honestly, I love how this season doesn't let things drag on. It wraps up subplots in good time while still keeping the story going. Also nice seeing Millie and Blitzo continuing to grow as friends, but I'm also happy Moxxie stands up to Blitzo more now. Also nice seeing Loona talk with Stolas and comfort him too. Also! It was nice seeing the show show off safe and consensual sex practices! the consent, the talk about limits, the mention of safewords and the traffic light system, and the aftercare were all very nice to see!
