Rainbow Moth

Dipper: AAH!!! THE JOURNALS!!

Ryan

The really amazing thing about this episode is that Hirsch had barely any of this background in mind during most of the show, with only the very basic idea of Stan’s brother being the author being there from the start. All the bits of foreshadowing up to this point were thrown in with little to no idea what they meant. But Hirsch was still able to pull it all together here in a way that makes sense and plays perfectly fair with everything (it probably won’t surprise you that the fans immediately went looking for holes, but they still haven’t found any big problematic ones).

Rainbow Moth

It's a genius reveal that Stanley taking his brother's name is exactly how he knew all along that Gideon was a fraud psychic. Like everyone else, he called Grunkle Stan "Stanford Pines" - if he was truly a psychic, he would've known that Stanford wasn't his name.

FullmetalNinja25

Ford is my Favorite Character, though I'm slightly biased because JK Simmons is my Favorite Actor.

Bailey

I said it before, but it really is amazing how many of the small little jokes and one liners get put in a whole new light after these episodes. I think it's safe to say that aside from 1 episode, you'll probably be super into the rest of the show. Honestly I can't imagine how excited you must be for the lore after losing some interest in the show for a while. I hope you're excited :D Also I'm so sorry, but it's pretty funny that you're so excited you keep stumbling over your intro lol Also love the shirt... again! It's a really good shirt

Ryan

I love that he’s provided the voice of two portal scientists, who would hate each other because of their vastly different attitudes toward safety precautions.

Ryan

They see us.

Florena Emberlin

While I like the show overall, the episode before this one to the finale are really the highlight for me. I kind of wish Ford had been introduced a bit earlier so we had more than half a season with him.

Liam Gradwell

This is the episode that brings it all together. And it’s a real lore heavy one. Plus, love that JK Simmons plays Stanford, who also plays J Jonah Jameson and Tenzin on Legend of Korra.

Ryan

And Cave Johnson, another scientist who works with portals. And who Ford would be horrified by, with his total lack of safety concern.

JamJarWorks

Ah, the episode about my second favorite set of adult siblings from a Disney Channel animated series, one of whom is a natural trickster and con artist and becomes a rough but genuinely attached caregiver to the young main character(s), the other being a more proper and by-the-book nerd obsessed with their studies, with them having been the best of friends as children into their teen years, until an inciting incident that would see them separated led one to make a mistake that cost the other their future and resulting in a period of intense estrangement and an absence of contact for thirty years, resolving in the two being reunited to live under the same roof after an incident involving a portal to another dimension. Total coincidence that the pseudonym Eda was revealed to use in Yesterday’s Lie and the name of Stan’s ex-wife as revealed in Gravity Falls Journal 3 are both Marilyn, I’m sure. 😉 (They’re my favorites of each)

Production_Run

Ford's not super safety-conscious himself. Look at the exposed red-hot thingy that gave Stan his brand, or the lack of any physical barriers around the portal, or the casual approach to handling the rope for the crash-test dummy, or all the various stuff in future episodes.

Theo Dane

When you reverse McGucket’s words after he was almost sucked into the portal, it’s going to seem like more gibberish. But it’s actually the same thing he said in Society of the Blind Eye - “YROO XRKSVI! GIRZMTOV!” which translates to “BILL CIPHER! TRIANGLE!” in the Atbash cipher.

I didn’t know that! That’s so cool! Thanks for sharing that

Awesome Reaction Elijah And Now I Can’t Wait For You To Finish Season 2 and my favorite Stan character is definitely Stanley Have a Wonderful Day and see you for your next reaction to GF soon 😊

I was waiting for you to finally learn the truth! This show is amazing and it has so many little things that seem insignificant but actually have meaning and I LOVE it! On my personal opinion about the OG Pines twins (spoiler free): I honestly kinda dislike Ford (I don’t hate him, just dislike him). I understand that Stan accidentally broke Ford’s machine and cost him his dream school, but staying silent while your dad kicks your (*probably underaged*) BROTHER out of the house *without* money or a place to stay, just because you didn’t get to go to a fancy school?! And ignoring him for YEARS, not caring about him and not trying to reach out in any way, and only contacting him when you need something from him?? That’s pretty shitty not gonna lie.. Stan is a liar and a scammer, but he has a big heart and he loves his family dearly. So yeah definitely Stan as my favorite twin!

Tammy Ragsdale

I like Ford, he's cool, but Stan is my favorite

EdwormN7

Given how you noticed Stan's "tattoo" so very long ago, despite the abundance of lore drops in this episode, the revelation of that scar was the main thing I was hyped for your reaction to haha. Love to see things come full circle!

Brett

Someone could say that Dipper is a not so average fanboy.

ELS_Art

Aww she got so flustered talking about her Girlfriend she couldn’t do her intro. 🤭

Santino

one of the small details i love in this episode is how ford has a hard time saying “thank you” in contrast to stan having a hard time saying “please” (and him finally saying it is speculated as to why mabel trusted him last episode)

Childofthestars111

When Ford shined the flashlight into Stan’s eyes, it was to check what his pupils looked like - if they were slits it might mean he was possessed by a certain scary triangle

Moonie

The baby the mom was holding was their baby brother Shirley he is Mabel and Dippers grandfather

Marisa Maribel

I love both Stan and Ford, but Stanley is definitely my favorite of the two!

Gone

I'm partial to the previous episode as far as rankings go (if my pfp didn't give it away) but this definitely ranks REALLY highly as well. I love the fandom lampshading with Soos' comment about stuff lining up with his fan fiction and Dipper's squealing about the journal.

Theo Dane

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I personally like Ford more. We don’t get as much of him in the show, but he gets a great amount of character development in the real life Journal 3 which makes him arguably one of the most well developed characters in the series. I also find him to be really relatable too. I highly recommend reading the real life Journal 3 to learn more about him!
