Chainsaw Man came in like a hot girlfriend and then left really quickly and forever, like a hot girlfriend. And now it's back to tease us with the possibility that maybe she... it's back for good. But you were a fool for thinking it could work out (shame on you). In this video I watch the Chainsaw Man teaser trailer and then rant about my tangentially related thoughts.

chainsaw man easily hooks you at the beginning, but often great anime have one arc that, looking back, is what truly solidified the show’s legacy and greatness, like the gojo flashback for JJK. This is that arc for Chainsaw Man. and it doesn’t stop ascending from here

so the csm anime actually got a new director after there was backlash from some fans for season 1 being "too cinematic" and not as wild/bold looking as the manga lol. i do personally like the style change but stuff like that makes me worried for the future of creative direction and artistic liberties, i don't see the appeal of 1-to-1 recreations but it feels like audiences are always pushing for it

That’s not why he left most people loved it, he left to start his own studio. It was just the vocal minority who disliked season 1ms style. As a manga reader I agree I thought S1 was perfect in capturing the feel of the manga, personally I don’t want an exact replica of the manga but I’m sure they’ll nail it

For me it’s the following arc that made me realize this story is in a league of it’s own

This made me go rewatch your extended reactions to Chainsaw Man. The series also lives in my head rent free despite only being 12 episodes.

if he left to start his own studio then that's great! i just remember the borderline harassment he was getting from the japanese fandom as soon as season 1 started airing. even since the movie trailer dropped there's been renewed discourse within the international fandom over it, but what's done is done, hopefully his studio does well.

It’s kinda like the thing with AOT’s ending, it got a lot of hate online but in reality most people either loved it or accepted it

“do we not have enough hot female characters” trust me chainsaw man’s list is stacked

Emman Reed

yeah I can't wait, the author Tatsuki Fujimoto has become someone I greatly admire since his stories are so "interesting". This Mr.Goodwin reaction was short but sweet!

So are we getting a move instead of a season 2? Could have sworn I saw a season 2 announcement.

the movie is one whole arc, the “reze arc” i’m assuming they did a movie for this instead of another season because this arc wouldn’t have been more than 5 episodes long. so season 2 will probably be the length of season 1 in order to finish the first part of chainsaw man.
