It's hard for me to talk about this show without any spoilers, but it has genuinely made me rethink how I view several aspects of life. It's just such a great journey, part of the reason I recommended it is because I figured it had a lot to say that would be relevant on the channel. Even if this doesn't become a series, it'll be cool to hear your thoughts on this first episode Will update after watching

Francesca White

fun fact: the author of this series is also the author of A Silent Voice, she's honestly so amazing

benj

When I watched this first episode the day it premiered a few months ago I think I cried more than I had ever cried before watching an anime pilot. Cute dog + Loneliness + Tragic opening story = Pure sadness. I ended up dropping the show after 5 episodes as it was not what I thought it might be on an episode to episode basis at least from how impressed I was with this pilot, although I'm sure the show continues to get better and I am missing important context later on, also the show is still in cour and coming out with weekly episodes so this last arc of the season could make it worthwhile to watch for sure. Definitely want Fruits Basket or Jujutsu Kaisen over this but I will for sure binge it and catch up with the weekly episode drops if you choose it, I think it would be an awesome choice regardless!

need a goodwin reaction to A Silent Voice and the rest of Kyoto Ani's works. Fruits Basket would be a good start into that realm of anime tho.

Megan

I’m ready with my tissues next to me

benj

I love your intro's unironically. Just get right into it.

Shawn Brittain

I can’t believe I got on here and this popped up I’m so hype

Brimmy

KENJIROU TSUDA IS THE NARRATOR?! I've been meaning to watch this but just...brain things amirite gonna have to binge this when i finish watching this o.o it might be the orb's story since its called to your eternity and since it can heal it could live for eternity???

Francesca White

i like to think that at the end the boy got to go to heaven where he was reunited with the real Joann and the rest of his village

Simon Varvaressos

Damn, that looks great. If we have a vote on your choice, I would choose that one =P

I'm definitely going to watch it just not sure when. The first episode was pretty amazing IMHO

Fizzle

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Jk, I knew you would, at least the first episode for sure. I think the first arc after this mini-story catches some people off guard, because the narrator doesn't really explain anything about the orb to the audience. So, for the first bit, it's hard to understand (much like how it would be with a weird orb creature that can't tell you what's going on) But trust me, the story doesn't lose this theme of viewing aspects of humanity, and it's such an interesting, new way to go about it. There's something so fun of being in the perspective of something that literally has no idea what it means to be human, even though you as the viewer do. Gives a massively different view point, and I'm sure you'll have fun talking about these themes. Of course, the other shows on your list are hard-hitters, when it comes to popularity, but I look forward to the day you eventually add this to your schedule.

Fizzle

OH, and important note: I usually don't ever agree with people who say to skip openings, but this is definitely one that can lead you in certain directions. I don't think it spoils the experience, because I've watched it since ep2 and have still enjoyed it, but you might not want to have any insight. So, just to give you a little warning beforehand. (And this isn't one of those things were silly people basically spoil it by calling it spoilers, thereby verifying the events in the op. Unlike a shounen, these images are pretty obviously part of the story.)

Nick

That's a valid reason to stop. I will say that the episodes following 5 are imo fantastic. If this does get chosen, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the rest of the show.

Nick
>>65525714

I would say watch the op once and don't watch it again! Only because the op is so great, visually. Or watch it anyway like I have. Like you said it doesn't really ruin it for me, but it does spoil for sure.

That's the VA's name? I recognized him from Re Zero season 2 as well. He's been in a lot of anime lately and absolutely killing it. "Behold, an unthinkable present" guy Fun bonus fact, the nameless boy's voice actor is new to the voice acting scene and this was one of his first big roles if I'm not mistaken

From this episode I was struck by just how much-seeing things through the lens of this orb thing changed my perspective. It's an interesting experience haha

Aura Y

I have been saving this show for when I had free time, but since episode 1 was put on the reaction schedule, I thought I should watch before it came out. It's a really powerful show just from the first episode. As was commented, it feels like a very sensory show. I felt like I was experiencing things for the first time and growing with the orb! Makes me want to appreciate life a bit more.

FiioArt

I think this is the show for you for sure

themightyabe

I know nothing about this show! It looks really good. Off the bat, it seems like the narrator is ''God". They made mention of casting the orb out in the beginning. I was going to ask why this was done, but that's sort of like asking what is the meaning of life in a way. Like at this point does it even matter why the orb was created? It has given itself purpose without knowing why it was created just like everyone else!

Nathan

Aren't we all just nothing but "beings that absorb life"? Also you were hoping that the boy would "go beyond"...in other words...plus ultra?

Itachi The Rouge

I’m down for this show or Jujutsu Kaisen for the next series I haven’t seen either one until now and they both seem super interesting! Are you testing out any other pilots or picking from these three?

GraphicsCow

THIS is the show for this channel 100%

BotheredAsh

I didnt know anything coming into this and now I just want to cry...

Nick
>>65531958

That was basically my reaction when I first saw it He said in a different comment he wants to watch this at some point, so even if it's not the next show hopefully it comes back

Skyler Anderson

I've been waiting to watch this show and never did, so I experienced this for the first time here. What a poetic journey this show just took me through. I didn't expect the ending tbh. Excited to see the rest

Aidan Pullen

I know nothing about this show. That first episode was so incredibly poetic and moving. I really hope you continue with this one. I would love to join you on this journey. If you don't do it next though I'll probably just watch on my own XD

Stefan

I've been reading the manga for a long time now, and it's amazing. I'm still looking for an opportunity to watch someone stream this episode, so I can say 'don't worry, we'll be seeing a lot more of the boy!' like 70% through the episode.

MikeWest

Woah this rocked. It was like an anime arthouse film.

Ardawen

To wat end? Well to your eternity!

Ned

Hmmm. Im definitely still pulling for JJK, but this is definitely a close second

SirLagginton

"You can't see the sea anymore" This guy is like armin with the opposite goal

SirLagginton
>>65615447

Oh no I finished the video, Armin got roasted on his way to the sea, this kid got frozen on his way away from the sea.

Ruma Risto

I wish you would keep reacting to this :)

Christiaan

First ep and I already teared up, great start lol

Nick
>>65630770

Only 3 anime have made me cry hard. Violet Evergarden, Re:Zero, and To Your Eternity This story is very emotional but also beautiful

daniel kurtz

Re:Zero has gotta come up at some point. Seasons 1 and 2 are an incomplete but well wrapped up story arc

jess

it just hurts that he will experience life like the boy wanted to like fruit:,)

Geneva The Weeba

New to the Patreon gang, but didn't realize that TYE was continuing here! Therefore, I have now caught up to the manga, and am here to watch!!

arcana✦vox

This sweet boy absolutely destroyed me... Just binged this whole season in one day, now I'm here to go through it all again to hear your insight. I'm quite late to the party but looking forward to it!
