In Kaguya Sama 2x3, the gang discovers Narnia for no discernable reason (yet), Kaguya starts (having seen a few episodes ahead) what seems to me to be a serious decline... out of rom-com and into just concern for her well-being.

I totally forgot this was friday and made Kaguya instead of Spy X Family. So I will do Spy X Family on Monday instead of Kaguya to make up and then another Spy X Family next Friday. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hello everyone, I'm glad everyone is enjoying Kaguya. I however am gonna drop it. I came in expecting a wholesome RomCom but got a show that is pretty irreverent and permissive towards adolescent premarital sex. It really makes me feel uncomfortable. The idea that teens are hormonal horndogs who fuck like rabbits is to me, doing real life teenagers a disservice. It is not like Haru and Rin in FruBa which is treated with sensitivity and gravitas since their unique family situation pushes them to be like that In Kaguya, sex is treated as some achievement milestone you have with your significant other and virginity and chastity and those who hold to the ideal(Chika)are constantly mocked. From what I have heard this attitude doesn't stop. I actually think all the sex stuff in Fruits Basket is tamer than in Kaguya. In an ideal world everyone would only be sleeping with their life partners, but we don't live in that world, so I at least wish sex, especially between adolescents is treated seriously. Hope to see everyone in SpyxFamily. A show that is actually pretty wholesome.

Lol how did you guess the plot of next episode? Love your discussion and commentary as usual.

I guess you’re sticking to your own ideals and preferences, which is fine I suppose. But I’ve barely ever had a problem with the sexual moments that pop up sometimes??? This show is incredibly wholesome, moments that are a bit sexual/scandalous in nature don’t change that. Spy x Family and Kaguya-sama definitely shouldn’t be compared on those terms. Sorry, but this whole comment just kinda has me like “wut”

"Chika excessively beating Ishigami with paper fan" is on my list of funniest bits in the show

Proud Saizeriya customer over here! That restaurant chain has saved me on several occasions in China. Haha Not sure if it has ever been mentioned before, but the characters of Kaguya-sama are loosely based on the characters from the Japanese folktale of the Moon Princess Kaguya. I will try to bring up some of the references when they become plot relevant and not spoiler-ish.

“There’s all this talk about being ‘healthy’ and ‘healthy relationships’ and ‘toxic relationships’ and. I don’t know. I just want my heart to be consumed,” “I don’t think Rengoku had a girlfriend though,” “It’s time to make up constellations. And pretend you know what they are,” “Get on the hype train, Kaguya!” “I feel like you’re second place in this whole arrangement. Second place to astronomy,” *sings Aladdin song* “Don’t underestimate a man in his element,” “Imagine hating the moon though,” “That’s. depressing. Depressing as all hell,” “Crushing defeat of both Kaguya and the moon,” “‘Stop being so great’,” “Greatness can be terrifying,” “It’s really tough once you associate leverage with love. There’s a double-edged sword because you want your romantic interest to be amazing. But there’s something scary about that, too. Because there’s the fear of being left behind,” “I remember that. It was episode 4,” “Stop it. Stop it. He’s already dead,” “Be careful of the cake in the closet,” “That feeling when you’re about to move out and you discover Narnia,” “The fifth character: room,” “Who are you without your gold brooch?” “It’s an aiguillette. My apologies,” (Sad French muttering) “~Mi-*yu*-ki~. In that exact tone,” (various saizeriya comments) “It can only be a positive that you like someone. If the other attributes are there as well,”

Shirogane's rejection of the story of Princess Kaguya is an incredible monologue for me. It will continue to have a deeper meaning as you get further into the show and hopefully future seasons (Season 4 or a movie after Season 3). One of my fav parts of S2.
