Pretty sure the translation is meant to say 'Man whore' not 'fuckboy' But still pretty funny

Steve.

You are not crazy about your thoughts on Kaguya. I think the show would agree with you and is setting that up intentionally. The fact that you can pick out these things in the shows you watch not only shows that you're really into the storytelling, but also is a testament to the strength of the character writing

The finale of Season Three aired over the weekend...and lets just say it was amazing. This show is the greatest of all time. Zenith of the medium. Hallmark of media. Gold standard of storytelling. Apogee of creativity. Vertex of invention. Crest of ingenuity. Acme of imagination. Pinnacle of innovation. Epic of epics. Legend among legends. Peak fiction.

Megan

Despite being a romance, Kaguya-sama is a Seinen (manga targeted towards older teen/adult guys) not a shojo.

thegreatquack

I watched this anime with my girlfriend and she laughed incredibly hard at the post-credits shoujo manga skit. I guess there were a ton of shoujo manga tropes packed in there.

A lot of your reading of Kaguya's character is quite spot on, but I disagree that she isn't showing any growth. Yes she regresses from time to time, but she is way better now than she was before. The show has given us some glimpses already of how Kaguya used to be an extremely cold person. But she has been changing little-by-little since meeting Miyuki and joining the Student Council. So I also wouldn't say Miyuki is a band aid. Kaguya's starting point was much more in the negatives and therefore her road is much longer.

Chris Sharpe

Omg, I HATE it, when I (plus some others) try to convince someone to watch a great show, and they just look at you like you’re insane, so you keep rambling and that just makes your case worse and they never watch it. Especially when recommending anime to non anime watchers.

Another reason why its one of my favs, Seinen and Shoujo tend to be a lot higher quality overall than Shounen

Riri

The metaphor of flightless birds is actually a very subtle hint from the author and really applies to Miyuki and Kaguya. The penguins that they go to see are in fact, penguins who mate for life, alluding to the want for a romantic connection between the two. The lack of the bird's ability to fly can refer to the limitations of not being able to reach the innermost needs or desires outside of love, and thus are bound to the ground with only the hope that they were together. Just kidding, I made that up :^)

Yeah Kaguya has already grown a lot since the beginning of the series. Everything doesn't go back to zero after every episode, there is a ton of continuity and character development. I hope Goodwin goes back and maybe rewatches some Kaguya focused chapters to see how far she has come.

benj

Goodwin: "Why would you assume the worst right out of the gate?" Because its Chika. Lol.

Also just cause nobody has said it, Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Season 3 is at a 9.17 right now on MyAnimeList and is the highest ranked anime of all time passing FMAB which always holds the no. 1 spot with a 9.14. Can't wait for Toxic FMAB fans too mass 1/10 score Kaguya without even watching the series just to reclaim the no. 1 spot, which is exactly what they did with Fruits Basket Season 3.

Lol, fortunately MAL rankings don’t actually mean anything

iaani

Looks like Kaguya is overcorrecting a little bit. She went all the way across the coldhearted-dreamy anime girl spectrum that I just made up.

I know this channel is pretty much just anime, but I was curious would you ever be interested in reacting to 'After Life'? Obviously I know it's a tad offensive here and there but let's be honest we all love tear jerkers.

Is there no JJK today? Must’ve gotten my schedule wrong :/

benj

The schedule has always been super loose and fluid. I believe he is doing a lot of back and forth traveling/moving right now internationally so there is gonna be some off days here and there for sure.

We've done Arcane, Invincible, Korra and ATLA, and Dragon Prince on this channel, none of which are anime. It has all been animation though, which personally I have no problem with lol.

Oh yeah I’m not like angry or anything, maybe slightly sad cause I’m really looking forward to the next ep, but I was really just wondering. Wouldn’t occur to me to demand videos or anything. I can’t imagine traveling and having to edit videos and stuff.

benj

yeah nobody really knows anything about when the next video is coming except for Goodwin. There is no discord with special announcements or anything like that, he edits the videos himself as well there is no editors on here with inside info either. i just have patreon notifs on my phone so i get a very satisfying new goodwin vid notification whenever a reaction drops.

“That’s how you start an episode!” “To perverts? Only to perverts? Uh-oh,” Ishigami: I like the tightness! Goodwin: *nods knowingly* “A wild Erwin Smith-like gamble,” “Not that ANYONE asked-please skip this part if you do not want to hear about my underwear. I promise it won't be weird. -er than it already is” “I feel like girl underwear is a lot more interesting-and I’m not just saying that because I’m a heterosexual guy-there’s a lot more variety,” “No innuendo there. Or *is* there?” “People who are great romantic partners are people who challenge us to grow and be better versions of ourselves,” “I can’t unsee it. I can’t unsee the loneliness,” “A conclusion that no one has ever come to,” “I’m realizing I didn’t know the terminology for underwear, despite being someone who wears them. THAT’s what boxer briefs are. Gotcha,” “Oh no, he’s insecure about it now. Don’t give him insecurity about the underwear he wears. There’s nothing wrong with it,” “Shava shava shaaa,” Kei: This manga just makes you cry non-stop! Goodwin: Is it Fruits Basket?/So it is Fruits Basket (When I tell you I SCREAMED) “You gotta balance out the manliness by doing some punching, bro. Punch it out. Get rid of those emotions,” “There’s no shame in that, man. A good story is a good story. Anything that makes you feel,” “Welcome to the student council,” (ad infinitum) “And anorexia. Then how does she eat the mild curry,” “That’s how I feel when my friends talk about Naruto. I’m in a group chat with 3 Naruto fans,” (Gosh, I *still* need to finish Shippuden) (Goodwin nerding out over the quotes this episode felt like looking into a mirror)
