I really enjoyed this show but I hated the ending. I would recommend you to skip the final movie but that probably won't happen lol

8.3 on Imdb (top 250 film of all time, top 20 for anime movies), 93% Google User rating, 100% Rotten Tomatoes Critic score and 99% Rotten Tomatoes Audience score, and most importantly an 8.93 rating on MyAnimeList (the largest anime online catalogue) which makes it the 18th highest rated anime of all time. Out of the 194,257 thousand people who have rated the VE movie on MAL, only 777 of them (or 0.4%) gave the film a 1 out of 10. If you combine all the votes for 1/10, 2/10, 3/10, AND 4/10 you get a whopping one percent of the total people who rated the show (around 2,000 people). Compare that to the 80,301 votes (41.3% of the total) who gave the movie a perfect 10/10. Yeah, its safe to say you're in the vast minority of people. A lot of people actually really love this movie. The film is universally regarded as quality by critics, audience, and industry members alike. Its okay to be a contrarian like yourself and hate on things that everybody else loves, but at least be self-aware about it.
