Hey, Top Hats.

You may have noticed that I haven't quite addressed the question of whether Bertram was in that dungeon alone from the beginning or if he's the only survivor.

I wanna hear your thoughts!

Do you think the System sent him in alone because the side characters always die in his movies and compensates by giving him a bitchin' chainsaw or if it sent some additional hunters in there anyway and they all died.

Whatever lines up best to the movies he starred in

I love Bertram too much to wish survivors guilt or anything on him. Just let him be a specialist badass.

Having other people die in that dungeon would be a pretty good way of demonstrating how dangerous the dungeons can be! So far, we've had zero named fatalities. Plus, it would give Bertram additional Tragic Vibes, which would suit his previous incarnation as well.

# 3 should be true, regardless of the results for 1 or 2 😁

I've been getting the impression that this system is high-handed, callous, and uninterested in context. Bertram absolutely went in with 3 of his friends who got horribly killed because that format fit the dungeon.

I see it from this perspective: The system seems to be aggressively neutral. If he was send there alone, got a safe house and made it out alive, even if barely, then it was sort of fair. I know it's backwards reasoning, but it could track. If he was in a group with five others and they all died, then the gate was very unfair. Mira's group and the other group with the two police officers and kids also made it out in one piece. With Mira's observations of them being tutorial gates, it would track more for me that he was alone and got a special class to compensate OR he was sent in alone BECAUSE of his special class instead of most of his group dying.
