It's a modern right of passage, and this time Gen Z gets to experience collective heartbreak over a series finale. That's right we're talking Conformity Gate and the discourse surrounding the end of Stranger Things. I've seen this rerun before. From the ruins of Hawkins to the "nonsense" theories taking over TikTok, we’re breaking down why this specific brand of disappointment is hitting so hard—and why the internet is convinced it's not over yet. Is it actually a bad ending, or is this just what happens when a generation realizes their favorite showrunners aren't invincible? I may be too old for this, but I sympathize. This Full-Length Episode is available for all premium tiers!

Yeah, this was def Gen Z's GoT/Lost/Homym/insert half a dozen other shows who's finale got boinked, one of these days though one of em is gonna actually do this and it's gonna fuck people up for the rest of time xD

I love how every point in the first video is like, "See this random coincidence? That's not a coincidence. It's proof we're right." Like, no patterns. Just unexplained inconsistencies = proof.

I like dipping my toes into the fan cope communities as just something fun to watch and theory craft and when it seems one of those ideas might be really cool, I believe it definitely would. But I don’t think it’s ever gonna happen. It just becomes fanfic and I’ve been into that since Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. There was the novelizations that I’d read before the movie and people would theory craft based on the novel but those typically contain slightly altered events. The big beats might still be there but small details or like a hidden reveal that doesn’t appear in the final cut of the film are just normal. Maybe a future show writer can take all these ideas and make their own better show that actually uses all those clues.

Content generation on TikTok was so HIGH the day after the finale release for Stranger Things. I tried listening to it for like a day and then came to my own conclusion that The Sopranos did this to us already: then I stopped scrolling. Still not over that heartbreak. I convinced myself that the cast and crew were DONE-DONE with Stranger Things. THAT IS ALL THE AUDIENCE IS GETTING. For the record I am of the party that "Doesn't believe." IFYKYK. Other interesting theory I heard is that Mike is a mastermind storyteller and came up with this whole thing and they are just still at the first DnD sitting. My friend really blew my mind with that one!

I'm just going to say, I loved the whole final season and was in tears as the last episode ended to my favorite Bowie song. I understand that art is subjective and we all have our own likes and dislikes, but I feel like more people care for negativity about art than positivity.

Amazing..while i dont watch or watched Stranger things, i remember the time of Game of Thrones and how the whole of youtube showed how they would improve the show..thats how deep d&d cut them... Same with Korra, the avatar ..the disappointment we felt.... Yeah..you get attached to media and sometimes it sucks and you start to spiral... but its important to learn of how to walk away from it, or else you walking down the...other paths PS: I saw the "In Lesbian writer we trust" at 31:53 ... nice one PPS: Jesse if you could watch the frist two episodes of Plur1bus..that would be swell as an react...

I think this kind of conformity gate behavior being so common these days shows that the quality of entertainment deteriorates a lot. I'm not only talking about television shows or movies, but also novels. It's getting more difficult as a consumer to invest in the creative works of others because you never know when the whole thing can die off all of a sudden. The money-making corporations quickly decide to end a show, and sometimes the writers are not even given a chance to do one extra series to wrap up the story arcs. Or, they replace the whole team of writers for no reason in the middle of a series. It is very sad.
