My best valentine's day gift from my boyfriend (we're not together anymore but we still are best friends and now have been for... 20 years) was him managing to get a hyacinth macaw, and him hunting the vendor in Moonglade that has the formal dangui that shows up randomly. This was before transmogging or learning pets was even a thing. Thing is there were other guys in WoW who kept insisting there's no way that was real and that no girl would accept that as a valentine's day gift. Except when the girls chimed in? MOST OF THEM WERE JEALOUS. Gifts are for the person you are giving them to. My boyfriend didn't have money to spend on something more that year, but he did put in the effort and time to get those for me. I was THRILLED. A gift that shows I'm being thought about and that someone has paid attention to what I love? That's the perfect gift. Always. If I find out someone paid 100+ dollars on a pair of pajamas for me? I'd be MAD. That is a waste of money. There are amazingly made pajamas for much cheaper and why did you waste your money on that? The year he spent way too much money on a copy of the Van Gogh Lilac Bush painting though and had it framed? Well. That's still on the wall of my bedroom and yes, I designed the coloring of my entire bedroom around it when I redecorated. Which, you know, makes me really grateful I still adore him as my best friend or man, yeah, that'd have sucked to have to change later. XD
