There’s a lot of discourse about AI art of late. Though it’s sad that yet another fad is hell-bend on stealing and reuploading creator’s work instead of exploring their own, there’s also some funny hot takes: like artists being some kind of cabal of self-congratulatory elite. If there’s one thing to know about any creative is they are their own worst critic! 😂

For the record, I believe everyone is capable of being an artist.

Every creative decision is a question we ask ourselves and draw upon our experiances: “Do these words express my feelings?”, “Does this spice make it taste like i want it to?”, “Shall I paint in cool blues or bright greens?” These questions are what make us creative humans. we examine, reflect, express and give our own little twist to it all. Even if no one else likes the jumper you’ve knitted, it’s yours! You’ve made something! And that’s magic!

Deciding on AI Input prompts and editing the result isn’t terribly creative. It’s like picking food from a menu and then claiming you’re a chef…that food isn’t yours, it’s the expression of someone else.

As an artist, i’m going to be ok. I love what i do, and no robot overtaking will change that! And i’m also super lucky to have others who love it too!! (You silly guys).

If anything, I pity AI creators because they’re giving away an opportunity to express themselves to a machine. A machine that can steal and replicate images, sure. But it can’t replicate meaning. And that just makes me sad for them honestly.
