October Newsletter: Tier Overhaul and New System (Patreon)

Hello to all our amazing Patrons!

We’re making some big changes to our tiers starting November 1st, so we will be incredibly grateful if you take the time to read this through!

First and foremost, we at Cosmic Stew are ‘worldbuilders’ before ‘content creators’. The main goal of everything we produce here is to gradually build the world of Rong’lu as we simultaneously introduce it to you. As such, starting November 1st we are going to implement the following changes, which will enable us to create more compelling narratives that can, in turn, inform higher quality deliverables as well as more interactive opportunities between us and our patrons!

GENERAL CHANGES:

For the last quarter, we have released one large swath of content at the start of each month. However, we will move to a system where we make smaller, more frequent releases, which will occur as we complete the content. The content we create will also become more amorphous! So far, the deliverables have been rigidly set in both type and quantity. Moving forward we will still guarantee certain deliverables each month, but we are going to give ourselves more freedom to create pieces from inspiration, rather than necessity. Finally, we will be reducing the number of tiers from five to three, which will be offered at $1, $3, and $5.

TIER SPECIFIC CHANGES:

$1.00 TIER: Retitled “Caravan through Rong’lu,” this tier will now grant access to all content we release in the future (except for Beta Mechanics Supplements). We guarantee that you’ll get at least two, high-quality battle-map packs every month, but the rest of the content will heavily depend on what we are inspired to create. We sincerely promise to continue delivering items and item art, monsters, adventure modules, and Alpha Mechanics Supplements, but their consistency will be more variable. In return, we will be able to provide you with short stories and plays, playable races and subclasses, regional and hand-drawn maps, and really anything we are excited to develop and share!

$3.00 TIER: When you subscribe to this tier, you’ll be known as a “Synterran Fortune-Finder,” and will receive access to all the content from the previous tier, as well as future Beta Mechanics Supplements. Additionally, at this tier you’ll gain access to polls about future content, high-resolution versions of any map packs, and exclusive, pioneering content from August - October 2020.

$5.00 TIER: At this level, you become a “Yunkan Ambassador.” While this tier is mainly to go above and beyond in supporting our work, you will receive all the content at previous tiers (including the Aug. - Oct. 2020 content), early access and sneak peeks of future content, and a username credit in all mechanics and adventure modules released while subscribed to this tier.

CLOSING REMARKS:

We know that these changes radically alter our current model and we understand that it disproportionately favors our $1 tier. However, the simplicity of our new system will allow us to spend more time engaging with patrons at every tier in a meaningful way. We are incredibly excited for the quality we will achieve under our new system, we appreciate your patience as we experiment with these changes, and we hope that you will stick around to see the fruits of our labor! Please feel free to reach out to us about and questions or concerns you may have. (Again, the changes go into effect November 1st, 2020. Starting that day, the $2 and $10 tiers will be hidden, and patrons on those tiers will not be affected until further notified.)
