Pinball Witch

i think this movie takes the award for movie that's ending shits the bed hardest from It Follows.

Pinball Witch

I'm curious if you ever saw ambuLAnce? If not i think it would be interesting to do like this about its representation of the cops, and if nothing else it's got some of the most visually interesting drone work in film.

gay of reckoning

I know I'm late to this, but I wanted to add my thoughts half way through my viewing 1. Just to slightly push back on Jackson's comment that he doesn't like that they have to raise the stakes beyond "it is bullshit the cousin is in jail" and that they have to have the kid under threat of being killed in Jail. I would argue that in this case they do actually need to have life or death stakes. Yes they've already made the main character sympathetic, but if his Cousin had just been at risk of spending time in jail then the general audiences wouldn't understand how life ruining that is. And there isn't a great way to convey in this kind of movie what that would actually mean for the kid's life. And thus the main character's willingness to put himself at the kind of risk to pull the stunts he does would not make sense and would make him seem unreasonable. 2. When it comes to the statement regarding the Sherriff cleaning up his act- I personally didn't take her statement as being one of in universe fact. I think it is meant to be read as one of two things. A: As a citizen of the town to her it seems like he has gotten better but she is not aware of the reality of the situation. or (More likely to me) B: She knows the sheriff isn't better but he has done a good job of appeasing the town or appearing better to his constituents regardless of the actual reality.

It's admittedly been a minute since I watched this movie but! 1. I definitely see this argument and general audiences probably do not see unlawful detention as being bad enough on its own, I just often wish that media that ostensibly is trying to expose corrupt policing would do more to make the point that it is. I understand the restrictions of the genre and needing to justify the main character's stunts, but my point is that this still minimizes the impact of ordinary policing. Is that fair to ask of Rebel Ridge? I'm not sure! But I do think that dynamic is worth noting. 2. This part I honestly can't remember I'm sorry!
