I've been hearing dribs and drabs but I haven't really been following Adams' monstrosities since my own city has DINOs of our own to worry about. I think I knew he was a Clintonian Democrat, but I had no idea he was an even bigger shitguzzler than Billary.

This whole thing just makes me sick. In elementary school I remember being surprised when I learned that the kkk was still around and hadn't vanished or died off. I thought society had evolved. As I've gotten older I've come to realize how little people have actually changed since the civil war. Lynchings still happen in this country regularly and there is a huge chunk of our culture that endorses them either passively or explicitly. Our country LOVES murdering "undesirables." Heck even people who are supposedly liberal still fall prey to this thought process. I remember growing up as a kid and being appalled by how many peers unironically said stuff like "batman should just use guns and kill all the criminals! That would solve all of gotham's problems!" America's soul is rotten to the core.

The working class needs its own party

RE RedX2099: Not an American, but I think you're correct, sadly. The MAGA crowd was always there - Trump just gave them permission to spew their poison more openly. It's terrifying to see how dangerously conservative your country is around issues of gun control, education, sexuality... I hope it's only a loud minority but only your next election will tell. Unfortunately, a country that prides itself on freedom legislatively supported racism for FAR too long after the civil war. You didn't allow all your citizens to vote until 1968! If you don't make a course correction, I dread the outcome. I don't think America or Americans are "rotten," but they need to step up and prove that to themselves and the world. America is STILL a great country, but your propagandized exceptionalism has clouded self-awareness for too long.

I think the US would benefit from a strong 3rd party. However, I think the one you need is a new conservative party to replace the MAGA-fication of the Republicans. True conservatives who will never vote for a Democrat are left with no alternative but to vote for the twisted mutation of the Republican party. A new conservative party would steal their power and influence and provide a legitimate balance of conservative and liberal values in government instead of the current crazy vs sane dynamic.

The USA has single-seat legislative districts elected by first-past-the-post, which mathematically generates a two-party system. This makes "third parties" functionally irrelevant. However, the Ds and Rs have so efficiently divvied up the districts between themselves, that the vast majority of districts are not competitive between them. If one party's primary* serves as the general election and the November election is a mere formality, that's a one-party district, and that means there's a vacuum for a new *second* party to fill. In districts line these, the working class/left/progressive orgs that do all the work that gets Democrats elected (in D districts) or maintains them as the official opposition (in R districts) could just as well organize under their own banner and on their own platform, rather than burying themselves inside a party that is openly hostile to their politics and to them, personally. *in states that have party primaries. Some states don't. For instance, California adopted a "Top Two" system a decade ago, whereby the Spring election is a battle royale amongst *all* the candidates regardless of "party preference" and the two top vote-getters move on to November - making the Spring election functionally the *general* and November the *runoff* - except people still don't understand this and so the Spring election still has low turnout and political analysis keeps discussing it like a partisan primary. One-party districts are evidenced by both candidates in November being from the same party, which is a lot of them. Thus, Top Two slams the door against "third parties" - but at the same time, jams the door open for a *second* party in each of these districts, requiring only a 2nd place result in the Spring.
