Veronica Mars is a show that has no patience for the terrible cops that patrol its episodes. It's also very nuanced in the ways it approaches the law as a social construct. Where does the show get this perspective and could it be a template for creating a cop show that is not copaganda?

Hey everyone, the next episode of Copaganda is here! I'm still dealing with copyright claims and monetization but you should be able to watch it now! If there are any issues, please let me know. The plan is to have an ad-free version available for you all on Patreon, but currently I'm not sure there's a way to do that while I'm disputing copyright. Thanks for your patience!

Looking forward to this one! Nebula soon?

Also still creating a thumbnail (you can't change them on nebula after posting)

Did not know this! I suppose it matters less if you have to re-upload, right? There's not an algorithm/discoverability penalty there... I assume revenue share is better on Nebula than YT Premium? (I have both - realize it's negligible from one viewer...)

There is probably less algorithmic penalty, although they definitely frown on reuploading. Nebula is definitely better for revenue share, although the best way to support a channel through Nebula is to sign up for it through that channel's link as that channel will receive 1/3 of your monthly subscription directly as long as you stay signed up

That is huge! Did not know there was a residual program in play! Thanks for letting me know!

Congrats. You just convinced me to watch veronica mars.

Xianhang Zhang

Holy shit, best episode of Copaganda thus far! Appreciate everything you do. Also, Killers of the Flower Moon ep when?

Same. I never watched it for a variety of reasons, even though I consistently heard/read how great it was. Now I'll have to track it down.

Same thing here. Police procedurals tend to be very lazily written and to be chockful of copaganda even when it makes no sense for their particular flavor (looking right at you elementary). I did watch some of them as a guilty pleasure but now just reading the video description is enough to convince me to just watch this.

Xianhang Zhang

OMG, yes! And definitely in the theaters.

Just watched the pilot episode last night - won't say I'm hooked yet, but definitely worth a few more episodes to see if the hook sets. Was anyone else skeezed-out whenever her dad says "Who's your daddy?" I know it gets lampshaded when she says "I hate it when you say that," but it still comes off as super-creepy; the fact that, in the long tradition of TV dramas casting 20-somethings as high schoolers, Kristen Bell was ~24 in that episode doesn't actually help -- if anything it makes it easier for me to imagine her and her "dad" gettin' funky with it. I hope his character doesn't continue w/ that. OTOH, "Well, if it isn’t Smokey the Barely Legal" made me LOL.

An Oni Moose

I watched this on Nebula but had to come here to comment: I was surprised that there was a whole discussion of how private detectives relate to copaganda without a mention of The Rockford Files, one of the best TV private detectives ever & with one of the best Mike Post theme songs.

there are many great noir private investigator shows (perry mason as well!) but i picked Veronica Mars because it's my favorite, i'm familiar with it, and i think that the dad as sheriff aspect gave me a perfect in-road to talk about both sheriffs specifically and the way the show directly interacts with policing

An Oni Moose

Not arguing against Veronica Mars as the subject - where did that idea come from? - just thought while the private-eye roundup was happening, Jim Rockford might at least warrant a mention.
