Chapter 6 rewrite coming Monday

Hey guys! Quick apology, because I had been planning on getting you the rewrite of Chapter 6 today, but I completely forgot it's the final day for the A Darker Shade of Magic Kickstarter, I'm sorry! I've been all hands on deck since yesterday morning, and I need to take either Saturday or Sunday off just for my health. So: Chapter 6 rewrite coming Monday.

It's got some similar themes but with a lot of changes that needed to be put in that I saw on reread and you guys echoed in your comments. I hope it hits a lot stronger and address all our concerns! Can't wait to drop it!

A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC final 8 hours!

For those unaware, Wraithmarked is wrapping it's biggest Kickstarter ever with V.E. Schwab's A Darker Shade of Magic right now!

If you love our editions, this one is an absolutely killer, AND it comes with a campaign-exclusive $15 discount! Even more if you get more than one!

Rovina Cai and Felix Ortiz headline as project artists, and we couldn't be more proud of how it turned out!

Thanks, B! Looking forward to it. Hope our boy LG gets a lil more love this time around, but good with however you spin the tale. Thanks again for the peek at the process!

Fair warning. I have rarely posted, and been very patient. That patience is fast coming to an end. I do not mind supporting aspiring writers. However, this has now dragged with little output repeatedly. To be quite honest, this is the most expensive book series I have ever bought, and even though I loved book 1 and book 2 was ok, I am starting to feel that for the author, this series is not even close to his main focus, or even a secret passion if it is not his main focus. Because of this the writing seems to have become more disjointed requiring more rewrites with little forward progress in sight. This is of concern.

Wraithmarked Creative

Hi James! We and Bryce have been very clear about how this project is going to be a slow rollout, down to marking is as much in the tiers. If you do not feel it's worth your expense, we understand and wish you luck!

Brandon King

I get the impatience. Truly. But I don't think its fair to question the man's passion. He's got a couple irons in the fire right now and has admitted that he hasn't quite hit his "battle rhythm" yet. It could be argued that the rewrites are evidence FOR his passion not a lack of it. He doesn't wanna settle. Anyway just my $.02. We're both entitled to our views. Have a great weekend!

Arg! Being on west coast time bit me on the butt again with a Kickstarter. I procrastinated on the last one and was amped to get home after work to take care of it and had missed the time. Was soooo sad. But I told myself I would get them unsigned from the next Kickstarter that happened…and it happend again! At least this time I somehow had missed that it was happening till I saw the post as I was getting to work in the morning so I don’t hate myself. But dang. I did see there’s late support on Backerkit which I didn’t spot last time so I’ll try to get in with that…I feel doomed to never maintain my complete Wraithmarked collections But on a more positive note yay chapter progress soon 😊 any news is always good news

I apologize if this has been mentioned before. I rarely read comments about ongoing book series just because with enough fans speculating, major plot points are bound to be guessed. With that being said, I'd like to ask that the quotes at the beginning of each chapter have a tad less foreshadowing/spoilers in them? It really kills any suspense for major elements of the story. Oh no! Will Viv be ok? Sure she will, because we saw a quote from her in book 2. Will Rei be able to save humanity from whatever horrible fate is coming in the next 5-10 years? Yep, otherwise it would be tough for him to have given an interview 15 years after he got his CAD. 🫤

Bryn

Hard disagree, those are some of the best parts and really add to the holistic style of the story

Kris K

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply I didn't like them. I do! Except when they take away from the suspense of the story. There's one very subtle one that I only noticed on my 3rd read thru that I think is great. Like I said, knowing that Viv isn't going to have any lasting damage from her 'training sessions' sort of makes everything going on with the hospital and everyone worrying pointless.

Bryn

I see the general point you're trying to make, but I don't agree with the example. She went to the hospital by unlocking a user unique ability which has become a massive plot point in the story, which should be plenty of foreshadowing that she isn't going to die in and of itself. Beyond that, there are plenty of ways she could still have long term consequences from doing this that aren't death, whether it is becoming physically impaired in some way, some neurological issue or more likely just her deteriorating mental health. For me that is plenty of tension by itself.

Brandon King

Selfishly hoping you get this done by my lunch break today. (2pm PST)😅

I figured I would hold off until I had my fix... While I agree, it is a bit slow coming out. It was also that way with the start of book 2. It should pick up as things move along. To me, there are worse ways I could spend $5 a month. Smoke one less cigarette each day (DO NOT START SMOKING! EVER!) or drink one less beer a day and my cost is covered. To me, it is a series that I get to enjoy a piece at a time, and look forward to every other week give or take. Most of my favorite series have ended, but this one just got started and is still going. Yea, probably the most expensive book series I have ever bought as well; however, I am not unhappy about it. And I hope this is not taken the wrong way, but I would love to chain Bryce down and force him to write from dawn to dusk... :) But since I cannot, I will (im)patiently wait...
