It had been a long time since Gwen could remember the feeling of a cold floor beneath her feet. She couldn't even remember when her legs had first started to change tone. It wasn't anything serious. She was meticulous about taking care of them, making sure they stayed healthy despite being completely numb.

Even so, they never quite matched the rest of her body. While her upper body flushed with warmth, blushed from embarrassment, or tensed with effort, her legs remained pale and still. Sometimes they would develop a faint bluish tint after sitting in the same position for too long, while on colder days they felt noticeably cooler to the touch than the rest of her skin. They were a quiet reminder that, although they were still part of her, they no longer responded the way they once had.
