this is like super old but for anyone else watching these hella late, about the plan feeling janky - i'd assume there WAS a plan initially, yknow with infiltrating the nest and disguising the girls as sacrifices but several things kind of went off the rails almost immediately. Firstly, they might not have expected the sheer volume of goblins in there. This is I believe their biggest fight so far in the series with just the main party, so not counting the farm attack at the end of S1. Secondly, they were sort of expecting the girl they brought along to freak out but it was unexpected that she went and killed the cleric goblin who would be important in this group of goblins. Thirdly, they did not expect a coronation ceremony which the death of the cleric complicates. They were sort of screwed from the start there, but they had no way of knowing that. I'm sure the original plan was very similar to when they faced the ogres - sleeping spells, sneak attacks, and then once the hoard has been thinned THEN some full on battle. Everything else is Goblin Slayer improvising on the spot, something he's probably used to since he'd know things don't always go to plan. Which TBH goes pretty well for them most of the time. GS is also pretty known for not talking about his plans for fear of being overheard and then being thwarted by the goblins. As for the rappel thing, yea that would be chalked up to the goblins being pretty dumb and not knowing or not thinking they could just cut the rope lmao. These goblins are a bit advanced but if they've never seen something before, they can't really deal with it in the normal ways we'd think of and I doubt they've ever seen someone use a rappel before.

But yes the movie itself is kind of mid. Action wise its great. The actual fighting sequences are very fun to watch. But there are some pacing issues and logistics that were skipped over. I think the movie would have benefitted from cutting out the "special episode" recap in the first 30 minutes and instead use that time to develop the actual plot of the movie. I like some of the ending though, really shows how Goblin Slayer started off as a barely human goblin killing machine and now he's starting to soften up a bit with Priestess and the rest of the party's help.
