Concept Art 44: Ria Pt1 (Patreon)

Ria is the last Midnight Blade, and that, unfortunately, means I haven't got much time to develop her backstory, when I write you guys will be the first to hear about it.

But what can I say about her character? She is very playful, sassy, and sometimes intense but there is also a charming side. There is an air of elegance to her, although she has a big mouth and could go from being classy to speaking shit in the blink of an eye. She can be annoying to others especially Kalila, since Ria sees her as an older sister so she tends to follow Kalila everywhere like a puppy asking for attention.

One of the reasons Ria admires Kalila so much is because she is one of the only strong female role models Ria ever had, and although Ria is capable, she still feels weak compared to others. To make things clear, Ria is a trans young woman so she has always felt different and judged by others, even by herself. She most likely had a hard time accepting herself or fighting the world that tried to force her to be someone she never felt she was, to begin with.

In that sense, Ria draws parallels to Otto, who always felt his appearance kept him from being the adult man he knew he was. Most likely Otto resents his body for being the reason he is treated like a kid made of glass and unable to be trusted to be capable on his own.

Is possible Ria has already gone through her journey and Otto is still figuring out how to love himself as he is, so meeting her might expose that complex he has been trying to downplay for so long.

Hopefully, I can write more of her when I have the time, she is a character I wanna do justice to.
