Concept Art 47: Archon Yaoh pt2 (Patreon)
Content
Now this is the prototype for what the curses/archons might look like when they take over the host, or well the midnight blade archon form if you will. While I might work further on this design, this one established the general aesthetic I was looking for. This idea of the archons will be further developed with Kaius's archon concept that I'll post next!
Since Archons/ curses haven't been talked about much I'll take this opportunity to attach the info on them directly from my document! hopefully, you fin this interesting.
+Archons+
Also referred to as Curses, demons, and children of Adam, the Archons are fragments of the cosmic horror known as Adam Kadmon. Initially, these beings were merely emanations of Adams's consciousness, tools created to serve a specific purpose in the grand scheme of things. However, unlike Adam, these entities were in perpetual contact with individualistic lifeforms while residing in their human hosts. These experiences across centuries led the Archons to develop an ego, an identity, something Adam doesn't possess nor anticipated to emerge in his derivations.
The curse of the Archons is not by any means a discreet one since the host starts to show marks all over their bodies. The more the curse develops, the more their body gets covered in these marks until the host finally merges with the Archon. As to what the "merge" means, it can be one of 2 things: either a synergy is achieved between the two consciousness (these being the host's and the Archon's), ultimately leading to the creation of a final unified consciousness or, if the two consciousness are unable to harmonize, they will be deemed incompatible, and the strongest will consume and erase the weak, taking total control of the host as if it always was their own body.
Another interesting fact about the Archons is their life cycle. They can be long-lived, but they aren't immortal because if their host dies, they will also perish, yet this is not the end of the Archon, at least not for their memory. These entities were designed to be disposable and reproducible organisms, programmed to make copies of their genetic memory. Then this "memory" is transmitted to the emanations repository in the depths of the Necropolis seconds before the Archon dies. Right after, a new iteration of the same Archon detects and absorbs the genetic memory and is re-born. Yet do not mistake it, the duplicated memories may give the illusion of consciousness-continuity, but the truth is that the original Archon died, and the new one is completely different.
The new Archon doesn't remember dying at all, just their vessel perishing, and it's here where the biggest problem arises: the archons aren't aware of this process. Normally this wouldn't impose any issue as the Archons were supposed to be tools with no ego, however since that's no longer the case, they now have developed a sense of self-preservation, and if they were to realize their eternal existence is a lie perpetuated by what they consider their father, things do not look bright for Adam's Plans.
Adonai ultimately takes advantage of this secret knowledge to try and persuade the Archons into joining his cause and opposing their father. To say they were pretty convinced by the man's arguments would be an understatement, and they have no intentions of proving their mortality true or letting Daddy dispose of them so easily. The Archons intend to fight for their existence to the very end, and that's also why they can easily empathize with the newest generation of midnight blades and achieve synergy with them.
The seven archons are:
-Adonaios
-Yaldaboath, corresponding to the blade Belias
-Sabaoth, corresponding to Kaius and Kalila
-Yaoh, corresponding to Zelos
