Concept Art 50: Archon Elaios (Patreon)

Elaios is the Archon Ravik has merged with as part of his entrance to the Midnightblades. It would seem that Elaios saw so many pent-up negative emotions in Ravik and, instead of harmonizing with him as he should, he decided to take advantage of those feelings to take control over Ravik in a subtle way.

Ravik didn't notice the influence the Archon was having on his psyche at first, but the young man's hidden feelings started to become more apparent. Slowly, his resentment and anger grew exponentially to the point it couldn't be controlled.

That is why, in the end, Ravik asks Asher to finish him, because his body and mind were too broken due to the Archon's presence, and that moment of lucidness was the last before his longtime friend turned into a  monster permanently.  If Elaios would be obedient to Adonaios after the Merge is something unknown to everyone, by any means, Elaios becoming complete with Ravik's body would have meant the death of everyone in Elnid'oh.

Ravik's death is a statement and a lesson for Asher. Things will become harder from now on, and choices will be made, sometimes with outcomes we do not desire but we are still responsible and have to learn to live with that. This also teaches Asher to live in the moment and be able to tell the people he cherishes the most how he feels while he can because you never know when they will vanish forever.
