Design Diary: Building Stunning Armies (Patreon)
Content
When I first set out on the Evil Dwarf project, modularity was something I was determined to build not just into a single kit, but across the entire range.
It’s definitely the harder road, and there are a few limitations that come with it, but I think it pays off because…
I basically wanted to make Evil Dwarf Lego
After only a few short months, the component count is now sitting at nearly 300 pieces… and honestly, I don’t even think we’re halfway done yet.
Be a Big Kid and Play Lego
The idea behind the modular ecosystem wasn’t just to let you build units where no two models look the same, although that alone is a huge plus.
It was to let people experiment, combine kits, and create units and characters that feel like their own.
The models above are a Sorcerer flanked by two guards (fancy names pending).
These aren’t new sculpts.
They’ve been built entirely from existing components across the range:
Forge Centaurs
Head and Shoulders Pack
Melee Kit
Even one of the hands from the Fellsmith welcome model
The stand also comes from one of my very early Fire Demon Sorcerer sculpts for a bit of extra pizazz.
And hell yeah, I’m absolutely printing these out!
What cool units or conversions have you made from the kits so far?
