If Sein had stuck around, he would have been able to meet a sexy oneesan, Methode (the mage that was examining Frieren and that Fern got jealous of). Also, the author of Frieren is a woman, so the series doesn't have much traditional fanservice (a focus on boobs or panties etc) which is definitely a good thing. So the fanbase ended up fixating on Ubel's armpits and whenever elves are showing off their feet. Fan's thirst does not go away, it just adapts haha.

Fern has spent basically most of her life with Frieren at this point, learning from her and training against her in mock battles, so it makes sense she has at least an idea of how to fight against her, still... Frieren's a legendary mage who fought the demon king, it has to be a terrifying thought to fight her.

I think you were misreading Frieren at the end there, because it looked to me less that she was uncomfortable and more that she was proud of Fern, either for being proactive or for actually being capable of it.
