WOW! This poll to replace Baki was a brutally close one!! The final percentages showed a tie at 20% each, so I had to download the raw numbers... The final score was Pokemon-66; Bojack-65.

As this means we will have two long series running at the same time, I have plans in place for just such a thing:

I will continue watching a season of Sunny, then inserting either a catchup series or an overall short series that has gotten a lot of support here. As we catch up on Sunny, the following show will be Futurama, and we'll be doing the same thing with that one, as far as breaks between seasons.

Both Sunny and Futurama are episodic to where the breaks shouldn't hinder the flow at all.

This will keep us with a wide variety of shows for you guys. Add to that, the AMAZING group of G100 sponsors we have here, and there will always be a variety of reactions, hopefully to give everyone something they enjoy.

As far as Pokemon, I will be skipping all filler. Also, you fans of the show, is it true there is one installment that is really weak? I've heard that from a few people and if there's an arc or season that is poor, please let me know and we'll skip over it.

We'll get all our ducks in a row regarding Pokemon as we prepare to get it going. 😊

While it's true that Black and white isn't as strong, it's still a really good series and i wouldn't suggest skipping it, it's not horrible or worth it to skip it.

Lachlan Ferrand

I believe you mean getting all our psyducks in a row but anyway

RyssaVionus

I'm curious how that will shape up. It's very hard to draw the line at what constitutes 'filler' in a show like Pokemon. So much of the show is the little, episodic adventures they have along the way... By most shows' standards, filler would be, like, 80% of the show. (I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a huge fan of the original Pokemon series. It's got nostalgia points for me but not much else. Some of the later seasons-- like Diamond and Pearl or X/Y really improved on the formula, in my opinion.)

Barro

Gotta watch them all, it's you and me. Together we'll laugh continuously.

StylishJack

I just want to say. I don't think we should be as strict on filler as we usually are.Pokémon, Especially the first season, was a morning Cartoon show. the main plot was not incredibly important. I'm worried if we get too strict We're gonna be missing out on some really funny episodes. Like the "James returns home" episode. That one is hysterically funny, But I'm worried we'd miss it. Because nothing of importance really happens. So In summary, I think we should go through at least the first few seasons as they are.

Chrome

there is no filler in the Pokemon anime actually, it's an entirely original series set in the Pokemon world, it does take inspiration from the games though, but does its own thing, things like "animefillerlist" list of filler episodes for Pokemon is fake, I don't even know how they came up with that list, each season has its own strengths and weaknesses as well, like some of the weaker written seasons make up for it with much stronger animation.

Chandler LaDeau

Black and White is generally regarded as the absolute worst the series has to offer. Some say that it's still not bad enough to skip, some prefer to pretend it never happened. They tried to give a soft reset for the series both in anime and in game during that era of Pokemon, and part of that soft reset was basically making Ash unlearn everything from the past several years of adventures and make absolutely moronic mistakes he absolutely should know better than to do. It's the era of the infamous moment where Pikachu lost a battle against a Pokemon that had literally never battled before. Some people can't bear to spend something like 500-600 or so episodes with a character at that point and then watch him suddenly become a bumbling fuckin moron for seemingly no reason. There's also the supporting cast. You've already met Misty, almost every era has a new girl tagging alongside Ash, plus one guy you'll meet soon who sticks with him through most of the show until parting ways at the beginning of Black and White. The new guy that takes his pace along with the token female companion of this era are also seen underwhelming. A lot of people find her annoying and him a bland, stale piece of white bread. Personally as a kid, I fell off the show part way through the Johto era, the third in the series and about a real world decade or so before the events of Black and White, so all this is not me trying to deter you from watching Black and White as I haven't actually seen it myself and don't have my own opinion. I'm just sharing the general consensus of the Pokemon fan base that Black and White, even amongst people who do say isn't so horrible that you should skip it, is without question the worst the show ever gets.

That's what I'm thinking. Cause it's like either basically all filler or basically all canon

Chrome
>>153517810

how do you not like Iris, she's fun? And did you really need to spoil something already before we even started to try and trash black and white lol. Each new region acts like a soft refresh, it's how the series goes.

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517728

As someone who is currently watching it again as an adult, I can assure you it does. All those episodes where they coincidentally happen to show up to this little village's annual Sunflora festival or whatever and then leave at the end with nothing substantial or meaningful to the plot in any way happening in between is absolutely filler

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517584

I'm pretty sure anime filler list doesn't count that one as filler because it does have meaning to the plot since it provides James backstory

Raven Yhelka
>>153517810

I agree with the sentiments Chandler, but Black and White was where I started losing interest in the series. For the games the series was based on, I had no problem, but for the series, I feel the characterization hit a low point, and the story just put me off. That's why I was hesitant about Pokemon. In my opinion, the first 13 seasons were some of the best, and some were better than others. My favorite is from Advanced Battle storyline, but that's probably because Gen 3 was and still is my favorite Pokemon game . Maybe re-watching with Curtis might change my mind a bit about the later seasons because I do like the games themselves.

RyssaVionus
>>153517179

Yeah, like if Canon is only the big moments where he catches a new pokemon or challenges a gym, we'll be skipping like 40 or 50 episodes at a time

Chrome
>>153517728

no, the filler list includes things like Kogha's Gym battle, the time Misty caught a certain... "horse pokemon" and other big important things

Chrome
>>153517810

I would argue Sinnoh and Kalos are some of the best, Serena's character was sweet, Alola is a ton of fun as well.

Raven Yhelka
>>153517810

I had so much trouble getting into the Alola series; the game that season was based on was so much fun. I loved how different it was, but something about the series felt toned down compared to other seasons. But maybe a rewatch can change that, so I'm willing to give it another try.

Chrome
>>153517810

maybe, I think it's one of the seasons that has the most fun animation wise, they try experimenting visually and it works well, plus... there's also "that" thing that happens in Sun and Moon.

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517810

I mean, it's episode one of the Black and White arc so it's not like it spoiled anything super important, and that's so many hundreds of episodes from now it's not like he's gonna remember it lol

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517728

We must be using different websites then, because I don't remember skipping those and I'm not watching filler.... I can't imagine why it would qualify those as filler

Darkslifer#27

Its kinda weird to me that people hate the black and white anime so much. Sure there are far better seasons but it wasnt that bad lol, its when i got back into the pokemon anime so ive actually got a bit of a soft spot for it

Chandler LaDeau

I will say that Pokemon's nature does make filler hard to define. It's a weird mix of being episodic and not at the same time since, unlike sitcoms like Sunny and Futurama, the plot is actually progressing towards something. Even episodes that seem like filler have small nuggets of something that either progress the story or someone's character arc or something. Very few episodes truly have nothing to offer, but also very few episodes truly have a substantial amount of meaningful plot to offer.

Chrome
>>153517728

just out of curiosity what site are you using? because I'm checking Animefillerlist.com, the first result that pops up at least in the UK. The rest are Reddit posts and Gamefaqs.

Aidan
>>153517810

I personally like black and white, it's a whole 180 of the whole of Pokemon series. While it has its downsides I think it's an overall good experience

Hi O'laverly

Pokemon by its nature does not have filler. Not sure who told you that. It's like saying The Simpsons has filler.

Aidan

Get ready lad for another 1000+ journey with Pokemon. Oh and to my knowledge there is no filler in Pokemon, most if not all follows a continuity. I'd say watch ALL the installments of it. Get ready lad to venture into the magnificent world of Pokemon 😁

Aidan
>>153520639

It's why I personally think too, it gets unnecessary hatred for no reason lad

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517810

Again, as I said, I've never seen that era so I have no opinion, I'm just very in tune with the Pokemon fan base in general since I'm still an avid player of the games and honestly, this comment section is the first time I've heard anyone say anything positive about the Black and White anime. There's a chance it's better than I've heard and the few clips I've seen, I've just seen a lot of stupid coming out of that era. But we have a few hundred episodes to figure out what he plans to do about it, so we'll see when that time comes

Chrome

I would also argue skipping Black and White would ruin one of the main big fights near the very end of the series... given the whole reason one fight in particular near the very end of the series matters because you know a certain character and their connects from Black and White.

Chrome
>>153517810

dude... you just wrote a giant paragraph about the Unova Seasons issues... without ever happening seen the Unova seasons. The internet exaggerates and hates on things all the time, it becomes an echo chamber were people just assume something is bad. I mean I would at least give a disclaimer that you've never seen those seasons before writing a giant paragraph like that

Rigid Rat
>>153521254

Yeah. There are some episodes that you could MAYBE argue as being filler, but almost every episode has some degree of importance. Also, Pokemon isn't generally very plot heavy to begin with.

Chandler LaDeau
>>153517810

I did at the end of the paragraph tbf. I suppose it would've helped if I put it at the beginning

Rigid Rat
>>153520639

Even though it had arguably the dumbest version of Ash Ketchum, I really don't think BW was that bad.

Chrome
>>153517810

I might have missed it, I would maybe break it up into separate paragraphs, it's a bit hard to read as a block lol.

Rigid Rat

If you want, I can go through the episode list and give you a small selection of episodes from each season that are completely skippable.

Rigid Rat

Already went through the episode list for season 1. "So Near Yet So Farfetch'd", "Beach Blank Out Blastoise", and "Lights, Camera, Quacktion" are all pretty skippable.

StylishJack
>>153517584

I'm glad we agree on that 1 episode At least. it's like in Inuyasha. There aren't any egregious filler arcs. It's usually just one-off episodes for hilarity. As it should be.

Irimu

Isn't half of pokemon episodic? Or is episodic not filler?

Nicholas Tamas

Not gonna lie, I'm kind of shocked Pokemon won. While I have 0 issue with everyone having a great time with it (and hope we do!), I didn't expect people to think that highly of it.

gunchar

Oha that are 1300+ episodes and fillers don't really exist, but there are multiple weaker installments like unfortunately the final season for Ash: Journeys(definitely the most disappointing season and an absolutely unworthy ending for Ash, which left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans) for example.

gunchar
>>153517810

How is Black and White worse than Journeys? I mean both have quite a bit of bad writing + some really lame characters(cough Leon and Goh cough), but Journeys was the biggest disappointment(especially the Jobbers 8) ever on top of it + an absolutely unworthy ending for Ash's own journey.

Nate D.

man everyones saying how much pokemon content you need to skip to have a enjoyable watching experience, sounds like one piece, but with no comprehensive story. Glad for the people that wanted it, i wont be watching, not really my thing.

The Fancy Penguin

I feel happy, I was the tie breaking vote aka my vote for Pokemon

Nicholas Tamas
>>153532821

Actually, nevermind. I just remembered parts of the Indigo League, including a certain, special someone, and now I can't wait to rewatch. Also, we need to get Curtis to watch the banned episodes.

Aidan
>>153537151

You didn't like it? I thought it was well done personally. Why don't you like it if you don't mind me asking. No spoiling for Curtis though but I'll understand

hkydude27

I would just go through all the episodes at this point

Temperistic

Well I'm glad I changed from Inuyasha then haha

gustav

do not skip any episodes of pokemon just watch the show

Kniffmaster

As a newcomer, I don't have much to add, but I do have a opinion: Watching 1,300+ episodes is a daunting task. Strategically skipping filler episodes is a wise choice. In fact, some might argue that watching only the top N-hundred episodes, in chronological order, is the optimal way to experience the series. After all, we have limited time, and variety is key. It's better to choose what to watch than what to skip? For example: just by skipping the worst 7% of Pokémon episodes, one could watch the whole of BoJack Horseman. (I am fun at parties)

SongCloud

Are we going to pick back up Futurama at some point too?

Noah

He says in this post it'll be after always sunny finishes
