The writing in the Mikkel scenes is phenomenal as well as just plain sad. He wakes up on his mother's birthday obviously upset and for good reason he's lost everyone he ever knew. Ines noticing his pain trys to distract him and tells him to try and forget, to live in the now. So he trys he go's to school and immediately his young mother pushes him and mocks him destroying any ability Mikkel had to forget. He runs away to the cave where he gets confronted by Noah. Mikkel argues that God could be wrong because he thinks he must have been wrong about him. When he gets back home he asks Ines the only ray of sunlight in his nightmare if she believes God has a plan. Ines says yes because his plan must have been for her to take care of Mikkel which is the first thing that made sense to Mikkel and he was finally able to relax and even smile as we saw at the end there while eating toast Hawaii or whatever. Not even mentioning the almost perfect parallel of Mikkel waking up from a nightmare that morning in the same bed and same way as jonas did throughout the first season.

I don’t know how Mikkel is even capable of maintaining his sanity!… Of course, several characters in here it would be understandable if they completely broke down!
