When I was growing up watching pokemon Charizard was the end all be all of pokemon and still has a very loyal fan base. However this episode changed all that for me. Even though he lost the battle any pokemon who can stand toe to toe with Charizard is a bad ass. To this day 27 years later Magmar remains my favorite pokemon.

Chrome

Blaine's anime adaptation is a bit of an odd one, he doesn't disguise himself as a hippy in the games, he's actually a scientist, he's fully bald with a white moustache and tinted glasses, a little like Eggman, just thinner and usually wearing a lab coat. He also has a strong bond with the people of his little island from what we know holding events and quizzes at his gym getting the community involved. The quizzes are probably why they went with the riddle route, honestly it's really interesting to me how they adapted characters from the games, especially early on when there wasn't as much synergy between the game devs and anime staff, and the characters in game weren't as well defined due to the Gameboys limitations.
