This "Pokemon Watcher" kid seems all right, but I just don't think he measures up to our boy, Boner!

So now Tracey has joined Ash's little group, he's ok, not as memorable as Brock, but he's honestly fine. I think part of it is his design honestly, Ken Sugimori is the lead artist for the Pokemon franchise, he didn't design every single character and Pokemon in the games, but they're all based on his style, it's a very distinct style as well, I would honestly put him high up there with Akira Toriyama in terms of character designers, Tracey... and a lot of the characters (except for the Pokémon) you'll meet in the Orange Islands are anime original, so not designed by him, so their designs aren't quite as memorable as like Misty and Brock, I still think the arc is fun by the way, it's just interesting to look back on some things in retrospect. Too make up for Tracey's averageness though Ash gets a Lapras at least, Lapras is a pretty good Pokemon to have, it's decently strong and lets you travel on water.

Rigid Rat

Lapras is mainly based on the Loch Ness Monster in case that wasn't obvious... or a pliesiosaur if you're a nerd. 😆
