I had some serious concerns about our girl for a bit there, but her loyalties are, indeed, in the right place!

I grew to love Kira so much over the course of this show. When you first meet her she can come on a little strong, but after a while, you really begin to understand her. I’ve missed these characters so much. I could go on and on about Garak and Bashir. So good to see Garak again. Hands-down, one of my favorite characters in anything. He is fascinating. By the way, you are absolutely right he was flirting. My favorite relationship in the show next to Kira and Odo.

Garak and Bashir's actors have actually denied that a few times apparently, but I agree, they're excellent characters, and they all grow so much as the series goes. I'll hopefully be able to sponsor it for a good while, and with some luck get it onto a poll.

I've said it before, but DS9 is genuinely one of my favourite series period, the characters are just fantastic. Garak as you get to know him will be really interesting, he's a really complex person, I think you'll end up liking a lot of the characters, I mean I can see you're already starting to like Rene's character of Odo. At this point I should probably make a few things clear that were setup in TNG, the previous Star Trek series, the Cardassians brutally occupied Bajor for 50 years strip mining the planet of resources oppressing the entire Bajoran nation killing around 10 million of them during the occupation, until the Federations was able to pressure them financially and politically to finally leave. Chief O'Brien, our Irish engineer actually fought a pretty brutal border war against them when he was younger, he has a lot of Cardassian blood on his hands, he became a decorated war hero and a living legend during it (that's not a spoiler by the way, that's just background info about him from TNG, the previous series he was in as a smaller recurring character). That's why Kira was conflicted this episode, she's spent her whole life fighting them, so she can relate to Tahna Los, but the war is over, the Cardassians have left, it's time to finally rebuild, she wants what's best for Bajor, so she's at least able to realise that means they do need help from the Federation to get back on their feet, Tahna just can't let go.

I definitely had my doubts about Kira at first, but now, with a better understanding of things, she seems cool.
