Yeah I don't disagree, this episode does feel like a bit like they needed something to fill a timeslot between the Orange Islands and the next arc, it's still a decent episode though, the second generation of Pokemon games released a few months after this episode, so that's probably why they needed an extra to tall for time. That's generally why the Orange Islands existed in the first place, it was the early days for Pokemon, they hadn't quite worked out the flow yet for the anime promoting the games, so the Orange Islands arc was made to essentially stall for about... 8 months, so the next arc could start adapting things from the games that were just about to come out in a few months, I honestly do find the behind the scenes things kind of interesting to learn, Pokemon is a massive brand with a lot of separate moving pieces so it's cool to see how they built them. I think you'll really enjoy tomorrow's episode, they listened to criticism of the orange islands and fixed some pretty big issues.
