And there's gen 4 babymon #3. Like with Munchlax and Mime Jr, Bonsly was also featured in a movie before being caught by a main character but ironically Brock didn't get along with that one.

Brock did basically raise all his brothers and sisters until his father finally came crawling back, so it makes sense he would be good raising Bonsly, now if only he could take it down a notch with girls and he'd maybe have a chance. I feel like this episode is referencing something but I don't know what, Jessie's Japanese VA has done a lot of different roles so it could be anything, that or they just wanted a Ninja episode since they're going past but not visiting the Ninja Gym Leader from Kanto (seriously you did a Ninja episode near Koga's gym but didn't have the Ninja gym leader cameo again, Ash beat him way back in the original season why not have him pop back up?).
