Yeah it was only a matter of time before ash winning streak broke. But still 5 frontier wins in a row is still good considering how the plot usually drives ash winning records

Psychic type wad was the strongest type in gen 1 so yes Those psychic abilities are no joke

Which is why in the past he's only been able to get past Psychic gym leaders by making them laugh or pulling an ability out of his ass that he'll never use again

Psychic types are pretty strong, so they're typically saved for like near end game Gyms or the Elite four, their only real weaknesses are Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type Pokemon, so based on common fears. Plus Metagross is just kind of busted as a Pokemon lol. I like Anabel, she's a cool character in the games and was given a fantastic new look in a later game. these couple of battles you've seen of her are currently her only appearances in the anime, but they do some pretty surprising things with her in the later games there's some pretty huge reveals for the entire franchise. I won't go into detail though because it would spoil some things later in the anime, plus I do think she'll pop back up sooner or later given some things currently happening in the series, the one thing I can say... she's far better at her job then Jenny.
