I know I would mention this once we reached the final episode, but between Fruits Basket and Clannad, where they are both just amazing slice of life with amazing romances, and when they have these heavy-hitting emotional scenes, they hit the mark every single time, no doubt Personally, for me, Fruits Basket does edge out Clannad for me as my favorite slice of life/romance, and the ending plays a big part in it. I don't think I know another show that really shows their future as this ending did. Most of these kinds of shows usually show the couple dating, or in some cases, we see them married with children, but not like Fruits Basket where we see them as grandparents, and for me, I find that so special and enduring. Like 30 plus years with your first love, raising children, and now enjoying Grandchildren. So much in all those years, and they're still going strong, the romantic in me just finds that so special. You can even see before the credits with all the pictures they have, their life together. Probably hard to tell but they had 2 boys and a girl, which you see one of the sons in the end. This was such an amazing ride beginning to end, and it's just bittersweet now that the show has to come to a close.

For me Akito's sitting right on the line between "I'm happy she got the ending she always should've had" and "still don't think she deserves that happy ending after everything she's done, though." Like, I'm so glad for her that she's finally becoming the person she always should've been and probably would've been if her mom and that old lady assistant weren't so horrible, but.... That doesn't unstab a man, it doesn't unpush a teenage girl out of a second story window, like she's still a fucked up person who did unforgivable things. I'm happy for her that she was forgiven (or at least they're willing to allow her the chance to move past it even if they never did actually forgive her outright) because I hate that she was driven to the point where she's thought this kind of behavior was okay, but I don't think she should've been.
