Totosai is right, Sesshomaru has definitely grown a lot since he lost his arm, he's still stubborn, but he has grown to be a kind person at times, even if he'll never admit it. Having his arm restored is a nice way of showing how he's kind of redeemed himself, he's gone from trying to kill his brother Inuyasha to having... kind of a respect with him, by Sesshomaru standards at least, he's a complicated person, and still one of my favourite characters that Rumiko wrote.
