FBI dood, Dwight, spent all those years hunting Tony just to more or less give him a heads up that may end up saving his life. War makes strange bedfellows. Elliot was a douche, but Melfie still came to an accurate conclusion; Tony was a sociopath and the sessions were making him a more efficient criminal. He did value her help and came to genuinely care about her, but he was using their sessions to gain insight he otherwise would not have ever had. Melfie figured out that Tony was using her and she did not want to be a tool for him. In the end, Melfie was not helping Tony become a better person, but rather a better criminal.
