Here the thing with Fantina in the game. In Diamond and pearl you can’t fight her until you get your 3rd and 4th gym badge. However in Platinum she is actually the 3rd gym leader you battle. I like how the switched it up

Fantina was annoying to battle in the game as well. Btw, stuff like hypnosis, poison, etc. tricks are quite often used in competitive Pokémon tournaments. They are cheap and very annoying to fight against, but can be really effective if smartly used.
