The Amazing Rudy

This is Jimmy Pesto's last appearance until season 14. Which is a fascinating tale actually. His voice actor was fired and then imprisoned for being involved in the storming of the capitol on January 6. Which is totally something Jimmy Pesto would do. (Although Jay Johnston pleaded guilty) He's been recast with the legendary Eric Bauza and he mimics his voice perfectly. Since season 14 Jimmy made an appearance in 3 episodes (so far). Although in 2025 Johnston has been among the ones pardoned by the current U.S. president, he, understandably, was not welcomed back into the show.

The Amazing Rudy

Rudy is maybe probably my favourite character (although it's very hard to choose in this show) and I really love how you can actually see the evolution of Rudy and Louise's relationship. He starts out in season 3 as just a kid from Louise's class she's only aware of, then they become friends, best friends, and with every appearance they become closer and closer and actually help each other develop as people and grow as characters. (There's an amazing video by Johnny2Cellos about Rudy, but there are some spoilers for episodes you haven't seen yet) It's never really done in animated sitcoms - when a main character has friends they most likely have been friends before the beginning of the show or at least start being friends in the first season. Or, even worse, when a main character gets a new friend - they more often then not just never appear again and/or have a falling out at the end of the episode. Which can become frustrating the more you see that trope (again, in sitcoms). Bob's Burgers doesn't do that and there's so many characters that the main characters are friends/pals with, characters they strengthen their friendship with. And they keep adding new ones. A lot of them are given time to develop, which I just really appreciate. Seriously, this show is amazing at so many things it does!
