You're right, the writing in this show is incredible, and yet the only reason I even know it exists is an oooooooold Gigguk video back when he was still going by The Anime Zone. It's so good and I feel like no one ever talks about it. Criminally underrated. As for why Selesia reverted back at the end, my theory based on what little I remember about the story is that the transformation came from a side story in a Twitter post that basically said "I had this cool idea, lemme know what you guys think." They did explain that their powers are basically based on what the audience believes they're capable of doing, and any new additions has to be accepted by the fans as...pretty much an idea they actually like and not something that's stupid and doesn't make sense or is overpowered lol. It hasn't actually been introduced into her story proper and isn't yet technically a thing she actually can canonically do. Rather, it was more like a sudden surge of a lot of fans thinking it'd be really cool if she did.
