I didn't realize hunger was so debilitating for Team Gurren Lagann, but I REALLY didn't realize what lengths Little Mole would go to in order to satisfy that hunger! :-D

This was the worst episode of the series. I still like it though.

I know I mentioned this during Kill la Kill because they made reference to it but just in case I'll repeat it. A guest animation director was invited to make an episode and the fan reaction was really bad. In fact a high level employee from Gainax (the company that made Gurren Lagann) said that reading those comments was like "putting his face next to an anus and inhaling deeply". He later stepped down. But yeah the animation change was due to a very respected animator with a "unique style".

Cetacean Needed

While this episode is the worst of the series, it introduces Kittan, who is my favorite character (aside from the core cast). Also, Boota is a pigmole like those huge ones they rode in episode 1. The whole thing with his tail giving them power will make a fair amount of sense eventually, but dont bother trying to figure it out right now. Your brain hasn't been spun around enough yet lol.

Both Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill were directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima. FYI

The Black family's war cries are actually pretty run of the mill for nomadic mounted warriors like themselves. You see similar ones among Native Americans and Bedouins.

This was my very first Anime I ever lsid eyes on outside of TV. (A few eps of Naruto and stuff here and there) and since then I rewatch it from time to time. Still fantastic and my favorite anime ever. Turned me into an instant Anime Fan
