GURREN LAGANN was an excellent series, but the ending was simply next level! Now THAT is how you tie up a story!

Matt Smith

I'm so glad you watched and enjoyed my favorite anime!

Aidan

Nurufufufu what a fun anime but tomorrow is the beginning of a whole different journey for you Curtis and are you going to love it.

Mr.Host

If it makes you feel any better, the writer basically confirmed that Simon and Nia banged in the week leading up to their wedding. So that's a plus.

Matt Smith

BURN IN THE EVERLASTING HELLFIRE OF CREATION! BE UTTERLY ANNIHILATED! DOWN TO THE VERY OAST SCRAP OF DNA!! Chills everytime.

Yunru

Soon the movies!

V_VMat

I'm not crying, you are!!

Mighty Snake

This is great and so is food wars you're gonna have a jolly good time

Charlie Sims

Funnily enough, you'd already seen a whole bunch of the final fight as its what SWE used during episode 7 of SAOA for the forging of K's Sword

I choose to take that as they spent the entire week doing literally nothing else but banging, like got back to earth and were just like "shit how long do you think you have left", "Maybe a week?", (picks up phone) "plan the wedding for sunday (puts down phone) LETS GO), and only got out of bed about 15 minutes before the wedding

James L

Such a bittersweet ending. I don't know whether you know this but it was written by the same guy who wrote the script for Kill La Kill and the director for Gurren Laggan also directed Kill La Kill which is probably why the art style is so similar.

Is it just me, throughout this whole thing did “Mr. Fabulous” not age a day?

Jake Young

Interesting to note is that the narrator and old Simon have the same voice actor. So I guess the entire series is him reflecting on his journey. And to think he was just a small boy who dug tunnels everyday and now he’s the most powerful spiral being in existence but chooses to stay humble. In the 2nd movie they elaborate and say that Nia had a dream where the barren world would be filled with flowers. So that’s what old Simon does. He goes around helping people and in repayment has them plant flowers to make Nia’s dream come true.

I’ve had a few people mention them, but I’m not sure when I could do a movie reaction. Not many days where I have a straight hour and a half with no interruptions. 😞

Glad you enjoyed it Curto, this is definitely one of my all time favourites, if not my number 1. It's what I'd call the mecha anime that even mecha anime haters can love. And for the movie, if you do decide to watch it, even just showing the final battle against the anti spiral is enough, since that's where alot of the change is. Godspeed, your drill is the drill that will pierce the heavens!

Phillip Ribbink

Let's see Yoko was about 16 or so at the beginning of the show right? 7 years passed during the time-skip after the battle with Lord Genome. Then 20 years after the fight with the Anti-Spirals. By my math that makes her about 43 years old. Making her your perfect Waifu Curtis. She's a chick that can kick ass (you've mentioned loving that before), she's closer to your age but still hot as hell and she's got the stern sexy teacher thing going on.

Gabriel Phipps

Was Simon’s boner control on point during the final battle or not on point with Nia sitting on his lap?

Johnny Kiehn

Not gonna lie, that ending with Simon losing Nia and then being completely forgotten by the people he saved hits me like a fucking truck every time. One brother dead, the other forgotten, but always in our hearts. Row Row, Fight the Power!!

Dojee

You spin me right round baby right round...

Dojee

Hey old man, if you want to get the deep stuff of the series, i highly recommend you watching Best Guy Ever's analysis of the show. It's pretty good.

Antiquity

I wouldn't consider this mecha anime. It has mecha in it but yeah.

Antiquity

If Kamina never died would we be able to defeat the Anti Spiral?

Its def mecha its under the real robot / super robot genera. Mecha is one of the oldest anime still around so they have adapted over the years setting the trends each with their own style or adding other genera to it like comedy, romance, ect. Example full metal panic is a comedy romance school anime set around mecha vs something like gundam which is hard war drama and started the "Real Robot" craze vs Code Geauss which is a sci fi drama thriller vs Macross that argubaly started the idol/singer anime craze vs Gurren that uses the crazy over the top Super Robot style that started in the black and white era. Mecha itsself is a style that ads or creates new styles since its so old.

Miklar Sihn

I think one of the most interesting things about the series is how none of the bad guys have actually been wrong about their goals. The good guys disagree with how to reach the goal, but not the actual goal.

Burk314

Rasen in Japanese means spiral. From this we get Rasengan in Naruto because it's a sphere of spiraling chakra, and Lazengann for Lordgenome's ganman because it runs on spiral power.

Chris D. Jones

Why do i remember simon jumping out of lagann at the end and actually fist fighting the anti spiral? And whole bunch of naked people? did i make that up?

Chris D. Jones

I didn’t know that was the movie at the time lol

Zhalterrix

I can't believe you skipped the last transformation.

Zhalterrix

There is one more transformation. Since this series is all about "I have a bigger dick than you". It's at the end of the movie, which is only a recap of the entire series up to that point. So, you could easily just react to the last 5 minutes or so.

Zhalterrix

Also, some incentive for you. Yoko and Nia show off their tits a bit more in the ending scene of the movie.

Natalie Baker

You've really got to see the movie's version of the final fight and it's 4 general battle. As a bonus for each, there's also a *lot* more... uh.. "plot" on display.
