This was the first time I'd seem Soma shaken. Not surprising, though, that he engineered a dramatic last minute comeback!... God Tongue's cousin being here also seems to complicate things a bit in a lot of potentially very interesting ways.

Performance cooking is definitely a thing. Last summer I worked an internship at a Hyatt in Green Bay, and since we were close to the Packers' stadium, all the visiting teams would stay there. We would serve each team a buffet-style dinner the night before and a breakfast the next morning. One night, the Pittsburgh Steelers were in town for a preseason game, and one of the executive chefs had me join him at the pasta station. It absolutely blew my mind. The loud sizzling of sautéing onions and garlic, the flames of the wine deglaze, and his expert noodle tosses kept drawing more and more players to watch. Eventually he let me try, and it was absurdly difficult to precisely time everything. I've have crazy respect for performance chefs ever since. Easily the best yet most intense work day of my life.

For a Chef it's probably one of the greatest feelings in the world to have someone else cook for you. Especially when they're chefs of this caliber. I mean think about it, these kids literally spend who knows how many hours cooking. And it's all for somebody else. It'd be nice to be waited on for a change.

I think the reason many people like alice is that she is so honest in a pretty childlike way. She is generally just very childlike in both the sweet and shitty ways and that tends to pull something out of you.
