I absolutely LOVE HxH! However, after this episode, there's little doubt left about my all-time top favorite!... As long as One Piece doesn't fall off at some point, it will definitely be occupying my top spot!

Brother E

Step aside Gon & Killua there’s a new king in town. And he doesn’t play Rock Paper Scissors. He plays with Bazookas & Pistols! His name is MONKEY D LUFFY & not only he going to become King of the Pirates. He’s now King of The Goosh!

One piece will bitch slap you with the feels harder and harder every day until die. Then it will do it some more for good measure

It's definitely not gonna fall off its only getting better

Redemption

I hope no one votes for a break =D

LordNoLife

Day 43 of my oath: I a 22 year old man do solemnly swear to mention how many episode we are away from catching up to one piece on every single episode that Curtis reacts to and I do not care how long that takes. And on that note: We are 837 away from catching up no decrease due to new episode yesterday

Thomas Stark

I never stop loving Nami getting the tattoo representing her Parents! Tangerine X Pinwheel

Middleman850

Gen was such a cool character. I didn’t realize the first time I watched this but now I can really see the impact he had. Now the greatest mystery in one piece has been solved, the mystery of the pinwheel.

Daniel Turner

Your going to need tissues and a stress ball for future arcs if this one got to you so much

astherphoenixxx96

i don't personally have an all time fav. there's maybe a top 10. but it's fascinating how they all have different aspects that i like, could be the character dev, could be world building, could be cool vilains. each show has its strong points that make them memorable af

Emil Johansson

Well One piece is great without a doubt and I think it will always be my favorite show even if i think there are alot of other show that has better pace, animation etc I have never watched a show that I simply got so much enjoyment out of. Some arcs are better then others and sometimes it can be a little slow but all in all i would say that it doesn´t fall off.

Andrew Lolavar

The problem with one piece that has kept it from being my all time favorite is the pace.

V_VMat

I don't know how many times I have seen and read One Piece (especially East Blue arc) but this still gets me teary eyed. So good!

Other shows have better individual stories but it's hard to beat one pieces world building. Both in its indirect way of showing it to you and just the sheer scope it can get away with in its massive size.

Dandy

I'm just gonna watch this a few more times : )

Jeremiah

I love One Piece! It's been my favorite Anime/Manga for 15 years!

This was stunning– Gen is pure class. Only 44 episodes in and I think that One Piece has the best story-telling of any piece of entertainment I've ever seen.

CrossZ

One piece really never fails to make me tear up.

Turza

I was expecting this to happen much later on... :D well with stuff later on in the series I can't see anything ever go over OP for you then :D

Duke

I never bothered thinking about my favourite series, it feels like a massive insult to put one show above another. It's a lot more satisfying to simply never rank them and view them all as different experiences.

Turza

For me HxH2011 and Gintama are still over OP tho and forever will be

Anonymous

Gen is like your favourite uncle or brother xD Yeah those two symbolism moments are legendary, the push out the door and the pinwheel on the grave.

MemeL0rd420

I love one piece but I can't put it above hunter x hunter, it's just pure genius. I think hxh is more thought provoking but one piece has more heart.

MemeL0rd420

I've just thought about how Curtis loves comradery and the idea of the found family and it made me hype for when Curtis meets Whitebeard. He's gonna love Whitebeard so much, calling it right here!

Sloopgamer

So One Piece became your great fav. Was somehow foreseeable, considering your personality! :D One Piece was my first anime ever and only years later I realized that One Piece is far from perfect. I've been following the One Piece Anime for 5 years now, but it's not even in the Top 10 or Top 20 anymore. Everybody I know who started One Piece, was in your opinion. But many have changed their mind drastically years later. For me, there are only 4 anime, which I regard as a real masterpiece and I differentiate here between anime / manga / Light Novels / And stories in general Top 4 Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Steins; Gate, Hunter x Hunter and Monster. Of course you set yourself different criteria to love a series. For me, the most important thing is the story, characters, music and pacing. I'm not saying that One Piece has a bad story, bad characters or even a bad music. Absolutely no way. All these points are incredibly good. I always see animes as a whole ...... and well. First, One Piece is still not over ( :D ) and second, with almost 900 episodes, it's no wonder that something goes wrong. The last 100 episodes are in my opinion just horrible. Everyone who Looks that knows what I mean. The manga, however, is for me a masterpiece, this is what our sensei Oda makes itself. ^^ I love the first 500 episode very much, but then you notice just the flaws that arise. But talking about it so early is stupid, because by that time, everything is really really good. It was also because the anime was very far away from the current manga range. What I still want to say, One Piece is no longer a simple story for me, more a great journey that only a few authors can offer us. I'm glad you had the same feelings I had the first time I watched One Piece. But much will be realized later. ^^ Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next 50 Reactions !!: D But I'll still choose the break, just because I think there are better animes out there. Not that one piece in itself is bad, but the anime! :) As I said before in some comments, it will not matter, the majority will want to look it anyway! :D Many may wonder why I write such a long comment. The answer is simple, I have no interest in discussing why I do not consider the anime as my favorite. I am sure that here are very decent people, but the One Piece fanbase is just cancer when you look at this Topic!! :(

Jake from SF

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you don't like One Piece at this point then just stop because even though it will keep getting better, Nami's arc just really sets a perfect foundation for what the series is all about. So, I just can't see someone liking One Piece later if they don't like it at this point.

Good. I'm glad you love One Piece this much, it just goes to show how much a good story can appeal to different people. One Piece is very good and deserves to be called a favorite. HxH, FMA, Naruto, etc are all favorites for different people. The fact that One Piece is connecting with you means you have a lot to look forward to. 837+ episodes to be exact.

SilversLyfe

Uh oh. Doesn’t look like the HxH crowd liked that statement lmao. Don’t worry, at the start here it just comes down to the main characters. Gin is a kid with cool powers at the start but Luffy is an eternal kid at heart whose only out for a good fight, a good time, and a big meal. At this point I don’t think anyone could really be that surprised besides Curtis himself. I mean Luffy is basically what you would expect a 17 year old, rubber Curtis to be. Soo......

To be fair it’s like that with every big series but yes those types of discussions are so subjective it’s best not to even bother. One Piece will forever be my favorite just because of what it meant to my childhood but I’d rather people didn’t even say they exclusively liked the quality of the big series over one another. It just leads to unnecessary disputes(cancer) and we’re all here did just fine new series enjoy them and watch Curtis anyway.

Whitebeard is the daddy, also calling that the actual first time he sees him, he is going to call him a dick

I disagree, I actually got really invested at louguetown

i've never really nailed down my favorite series. gurren lagann, one piece, yuyu hakusho, trigun, gundam wing, hunter x hunter, cowboy bebop, .hack, code geass.... theres a large list of shows and probably some i can't remember off the top of my head and they all had a surprising amount of influence of shaping my tastes and who i am. grew up on those shows, and some even stuck with me despite already being an adult when i got to them. if i was forced to try to pick out a favorite from among them i'd probably just stroke out :|

Rob

yeah oda is a god at story telling.

Anonymous

One piece is ganna get so good starting now interaction and funny scenes wise your ganna love this damn show cuz i do 2 😂😁🤟

GoldArthur

Funny thing is, this is all essentially part of the prologue.

Richie Roberts

Oda is a master storyteller. And this is just the beginning of the feels trip. Every character on the crew has a story or an emotional journey that will make you tear up. And that's what enders us to all of them and makes us really want to push for their success.

Master Gamataifu

Im reading the manga alongside watching the anime with Curtis and I'm quite shocked how much stuff the anime adds. The whole scene where Nami talked to and was pushed out of the house by Bellemere wasn't in the manga.

AceOfSerberit

a bit late but still. Only Oda can make a character design so silly mean so much in so little time

EOussama

The pinwheel scene gets me till this day.

Dandy

This is a great episode to go back and watch the reaction to. Not only does Curtis really find his deeper love for One Piece, but I think this episode serves as a good example of how the littler stories and B-plots that take place throughout an arc and the entire story can culminate into such impacting moments. (I.E. The pinwheel and Bellemere's tangerine orchard becoming the basis for Nami's tattoo)

Tyler

Well. This arc made my eyes water multiple times. Makes me scared and excited for what comes next.
