Damn, I felt that there was more to Zuko than meets the eye, but I didn't imagine his story was this deep and hard-hitting!

Nurufufufu personally I never saw Zuko as a villain but I very interesting character IMO

Koala Banana

This show often does a great job, for a kids show, using implication and scenes without dialogue. Getting the message and the feels across with tone and imagery.

Miklar Sihn

Now is the time to remember that the one that scarred his face was his last remaining parent.

It's not surprising that Zuko is as troubled as he is with having an asshole for a dad and a psychopath for a sister, thankfully he still has Uncle Iroh to serve as a much needed father figure and mentor.

PKKite

The grandpa firelord was killed and he did tell Zuko's dad that his son needs to die because he was willing to take irohs throne away because his son died. the story won't really tell you unless you read the comics what happens with Zuko's mom but obviously something happened the night she left the grandfather died I won't spoil how it all connects in case you want to stream reading the comics or make a video of reading the comics and reacting to what you read

The Muddler

By far my favorite episode.

Liesmith

I like the detail that Azula's fire was a normal orange in the flashback.

Liesmith

I'm pretty sure this was the sequence of events: 1. Iroh was heir to the throne, and a war hero. 2. Iroh's son dies, so Iroh retires and essentially gives up on the war. 3. Ozai asks Firelord Azulon to revoke Iroh's birthright since Iroh quit. 4. Azulon is enraged, and tells Ozai to kill Zuko as punishment. 5. Ursa hears of this, and poisons Azulon to save Zuko. 6. Ursa flees after committing the assassination.

Where are you getting the idea that it wont be touched upon in the show? It is... They do talk about it in the show making this a spoiler

Schmul Sjifris

This will be brought up in the show more than it has at this point. Kindly delete the spoiler

Schmul Sjifris

Warning, there are heavy spoilers in the comment section... Like 4 different posts all giving spoilers because of remembering something wrong or I dont know. I dont really know what can be done about that... But there are spoilers in the comment section

This episode should be named "Jesus Christ Azula!".

No one's spoiling dude,Ursa learned that Azalon ordered Zukos death, she left the night that Azalon died, your supposed too put 2 and 2 together and realize she killed him and fled to save her son, which Ozai took advantage of to usurp Iroh.its never touched on in the show again

Chris D. Jones

If you are coming into the comment section to tell Curtis what really happens you are spoiling. The show does explain it later. Please stop spoiling

DarkRaven

i thought he said spider-snake eyes cause that's a real animal or something in avatar

Chrome

here's how to know if you're about to spoil something, if it hasn't happened yet in the story or talked about yet in the story, then it's a spoiler, I don't care if it's addressed in a comic, wait till the series end and then tell him. Leave it for now, I may end up $100 sponsoring that graphic novel

Mighty Snake

Real talk though Ursa was mad kind and pretty. She is an excellent MILF.

SilversLyfe

I don’t know the particular spoilers in this case. However, a spoiler is anything that hasn’t been confirmed in the show. If something is left ambiguous then don’t confirm what actually happens. The show purposely leaves it that way. And if something is not confirmed later on or ever mention again, saying so is also a spoiler because it has to do with the future of the series.

CrossZ

Azula was always a lil psycho. Even her best friends are people she abuses and manipulates. Its kind of horrifying imagining Zuko's life without his mom around to look out for him.

Yeah. A 'spider-snake' with 10 eyes -- thus the little comedic pause for you to think he didn't get snake-eyes (a pair of 1s) before they start cheering.

Kyle Bryant

Smaller detail I appreciated. We get a glimpse of Iroh as general, and even though he's recognizably jovial, he's being gleeful about conquering the greatest city in the Earth Kingdom. As much as we all love Iroh, he's not perfect, and that depth makes him even more compelling.

I think Irohs days as a general were supposed to show us how even he was corrupted by the fire nation. Iroh was never a bad person he always did what he thought was right. He fought for his nation that in a way is honorable. The death of his son made Iroh realize the fire nations efforts were wrong. After Zuko was burned by his father he went to help Zuko because he believed in him. Iroh always wanted the best for Zuko and that’s why he helped him track down Aang. Iroh was always a good person it’s just that war and the awfulness of the fire nation (the country he loved) made him do bad things Iroh is a wize character and if it were not for his experiences he would be a whole different and weaker character. Also it’s somewhat important to remember this is an Amrican show that came out during the Iraq and Afghanistan war time itself and because of that there might have been some outside influences on the show. Technically this show is not even Anime because it was made in America but that’s a whole other point entirely.

Miasimon

You don't get too many villains like Azula, these days. Shows try too hard to either make the villain either established as evil with barely anything else other than that, personality-wise.. or the show tries to make the villain as lovable or makes you see their point of view. Azula is a sociopath. Unhinged, psychopathic/sociopathic and/or deranged villains in shows are too rare nowadays and when they show up, they usually lack any personality other than "I must kill the protagonist because of reasons". This is why Azula is such a great villain that you just love to hate (that's why I do, at least).

Ali6B

Gotta love Zuko and Iroh, such a simple yet brilliant move for them to be the 'other' main cast

Duke

can someone tell me what anime we've got upcoming after the current ones?

MD Simmons

Does anyone know if he watched Dragon Ball super here, and if so, may you send me a link to it?

Stephen Mailman

Love this episode cause it’s kind of like a Clint Eastwood western. A man with no name on the run from the law comes to town and befriends a family, but doesn’t get along with the thugs in the town. Eventually they have a duel in town at dusk and his true identity is revealed and he’s exiled from the town. Really well done episode.

Gene Bookwalter

Ursa getting high with her new hippie husband to cope with things.

gunchar
>>22850956

In the intro as well, but yeah it's a nice little detail that Azula developed her hotter blue flames later on.

gunchar
>>22853729

That's pretty unlikely, Azula is most likely a sociopath(and a highly functional one at that) who developed her behaviour in a ridiculously toxic environment.

What about anime made in japan but produced and or written in the west. Or anime made by chinese or Korean for Japan. The definition of anime is way too loose or strict. japans definition as they are the ones who invented the term is "animation". They count spongebob as anime their.
