This place of supposed safety and delight is a lot stranger than I imagined! Just the grinning, creepy tour guides alone are enough to freak me out!

THESE ARE SOME REALLY CREEPY TOUR GUIDES! - Avatar #14

This is not a kids show.

General Kuro

I think his logic is that the city is impenetrable, so it doesn't matter if the war continues or not as long as they are within the city, they're safe. Which is why he thinks resources are better spent maintaining order within the city rather than wasting it on an "un-winnable" war. As a heads up, I think you accidentally put the Yu Yu Hakusho stuff at the end of your description.

George

Avatar got some A1 animation since Day 1

To be honest, the United States, in general, reminds me a lot of this place when you look at it from a certain perspective.

Chrome

apparently this episode was nominated for a primetime Emmy for outstanding animated program, you can see why, it definitely captured that creepy feel

PKKite

Its meant to represent imperial china with the forbidden city parallels and all. Air is Tibetan/showlin monks, Earth kingdom is China, fire nation is imperial/ww2 Japan, and water tribe is the inuit.

ChaosKing

I remember seeing this as a kid an that constant smile creeped me out

Absolute justice guy (no spoilers) >>>>>>>>> long feng >>>>>>>>>>>> danzo

Tyler

City of Walls and Secrets, truly a fitting title. Long Feng always reminded me a bit of Danzo though I never hated him quite as much.

After you guys finish one of your current anime series(s), maybe Avatar: The Last Airbender, I'm totally gonna be voting on Log Horizon. I'm watching it anew, and it's easily one of the most inspiring animes I've ever watched. It's the fundamental opposite/counterpart to Overlord.

Spookie Dookie

The Dai Lee make me think of how the world thinks the “Illuminati” operates. Anything to keep their agenda going, puppet as their leader with no real power, and pretty much a underground society who makes the rules

Miasimon

Say what you want about the Dai Lee, but they're probably the most badass military force, especially with those earth hands.

Tyler

I just wish we would get a new season now that the author is out of prison.

Master Gamataifu

I'm glad the Dai Lee aren't just a red shirt army. Many series often make these armies of nameless characters and they just end up getting easily killed off despite being "the best of the best". But not the Dai Lee, they actually are strong.
