Hey Curtis, just so you know the Pillar Man's name is actually Santana (it had to be changed to Santviento due to copyright laws.)

Jonathan

Joseph has flawless disguises

Similarly Donobang, the Nazi assassin's real name is Donovan. It's best to try and listen to what the characters say instead of the subtitles.

Chrome

huh, they changed all the names for some reason, those aren't the real names for a lot of the characters, donobang is donovan and Santviento is Santana, they used the dubs changes for some reason

LireKlein

Your subtitles are a bit off, the nazi soldier with a knife was named Donovan (after the singer Donovan) and the Pillar Man is named Santana (after the Santana band and the Santa-Ana winds) .

That's because of copyrights, official subs have names that are slightly twisted to avoid copyright issues.

Noah

Oh hey, I know Raising Arizona. XD

Serra Lear

I love all the music tied to the Pillar Man's appearances, always the right amount of creepy

The Muddler

If you look at Joseph at the end of the episode you can see his Joestar birthmark on his neck which did not appear in the manga until later on.

Mr.Host

I fucking love Raising Arizona. One of my favorite Nick Cage movies.

Nate D.

joseph is my favorite anime character of all time, im glad youre enjoying this as much as I do, plus you are getting all the musically references that i missed (dire straights..e.t.c)

Turza

Ask spaz kid for some Blu ray download with normal subtitles

I just noticed that for the first time and was thinking "Hey, I guess the birthmark wasn't an Araki retcon after all". But it turns out he's really not the best at consistent storytelling.

I was surprised that memory came flashing back when he was on that motorcycle. :-D I think it was the boxer, Tex Cobb, who rode it in the movie. :-)

I hadn't thought about that movie in ages, and that scene immediately called me back to it. :-)

I whiffed on Santana, though, and I was trying to think of who they might be refercing, but I came up with nada! :-D

Wow that 6ft 5 inch women with muscles bigger than arnold definitely doesn't look like a man

Sheriff Uchiha

It's not Donobang. The japanese audio said Donovan but the english subs said something differant for copyright reasons.

Minor spoilers:..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... I always thought the joestar birthmark was something they invented in part 3, but you can clearly see it at 19:43

Phillip Ribbink

Who would you say is more dramatic? Speedwagon or Stroheim?

Souji

last comment got eaten by patreon ;( here's a repost So since we hit the point of being hit with copyright strikes on our subtitles might as well give a list of the characters thus far! 1. Dio - from Ronnie James Dio and his band "Dio". 2. Robert E. O. Speedwagon - REO Speedwagon. 3. Zeppeli - Led Zeppelin. 4. Tonpetty (the hamon master) - Tom Petty. 5. Dire and Straizo (straits originally) - of course as you've guessed Dire Straits :) 6. Poco - Poco the american country rock band. 7. Wang Chan, dio's helper and poison seller - Wang Chung 80s british band. 8. Tarukus (originally tarkus) - from the album called Tarkus of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. 9. Blueford (originally Bruford) - after the former drummer of the band "Yes" Bill Bruford. 10. Doobie the dio's snake minion - Doobie Brothers. 11. Erina Pendleton's name is suspected to be based on The Beatles' song Eleanor Rigby. 12. The 4 vampires that got killed by Straits at Dio's mansion with the chandelier called themselves Page, Jones, Plant and Bornnam (forgot what it was censored to in your subs) - after the 4 Led Zeppeling members Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Robert Plant, and Jon Bonham. 13. The ending song is Roudabout from the 60s band "Yes" and our man Bruford. 14. Father Styx on the ship at the end - the band Styx. And in this part 1. Smokey Brown - after Smokey Robinson and James Brown. 2. Santviento (even though the clearly say Santana) - after the 60s band Santana. 3. Donobang (originally Donovan) - after the scottish musician Donovan. remind me if I forgot someone :D

Jeez... It really is a good thing that I watch this series with Curtis and you guys, since I don't really listen any music so I would have never gotten any of those references!!
