It seems that Franky is the one who finally made Usopp have to come to grips with his feelings & the realities of Merry!

Usopp abandoned his friends for this stupid ship. He isn't going to face reality any time soon lol.

Everytime i hear your intro it sounds like the fat man is saying "Curry, eat now"

DarkRaven

This is one of my favorite episodes. Especially as it stands for the Going Merry doing its best to the very end

DarkRaven

the fact the merry is also concerned for the crew makes the scene where she was "crying" from the dual much more real

This moment in the series is what made me realize what a brilliant author Oda is. Everything that seems like useless one-note gags are actually in-depth pieces of the world. Now that you've seen them callback to when the Merry was mysteriously repaired, expect more of that. Oda does this constantly throughout the series. Moments that seem pointless or unimportant actually play a key part in things. Nothing is wasted.

Franky is a very interesting character he starts out as a villain but he's actually not that bad of a guy once we get to know him. He's a bit crazy but he looks out for the people he cares for.

Great now I won't be able to unhear that. The purity of the goosh goosh scene has been ruined forever

Here's a decent chunk from the wiki, if you want to know a bit more about the Klabautermann: A Klabautermann is a water kobold that assists sailors and fishermen on the Baltic and North Sea in their duties. It is a merry and diligent creature, with an expert understanding of most watercraft, and an irrepressible musical talent. It is believed to rescue sailors washed overboard. The name comes from the Low German verb klabastern meaning "rumble" or "make a noise". An etymology deriving the name from the verb kalfatern ("to caulk") has also been suggested. His image is of a small sailor in yellow with a tobacco pipe and woolen sailor's cap, often carrying a caulking hammer. This likeness is carved and attached to the mast as a symbol of good luck. Despite the positive attributes, there is one omen associated with his presence: no member of a ship blessed by his presence shall ever set eyes on him. He only ever becomes visible to the crew of a doomed ship.

Franky is really cool and best part is, he's a Coca-Cola person like me. No nasty ass Pepsi lol

Which is why I think people love this arc but the only people that can fully appreciate it are second time viewers. There are multiple times throughout this arc I cry. The full scope of things is just top tier. Stands among the most emotional arcs in anime history
