You know what I don't understand is why doesn't Law just do to Kuma what he did to all those marines? Was this ever explained outside of "would make a short and boring fight"? I guess it's on his mind, because he's calm as hell right now.

I think, and this is just a hypothesis, Room grants an extension to his sword range among other things and makes his cuts non-deadly. He can't cut through anything he couldn't normally cut through. Zoro can't even cut Kuma with three legendary swords. Law probably tried and failed.
