No need to be able to take a punch if nobody is stupid enough to throw one! ...and then came the lovable dumbass called Luffy. Also, I love how you remember the names of almost every character in One Piece and then comes one of the most threatening opponents and he gets the name "Poopy Pants".

If he cuts his arms off after touching him it should be fine no? If he doesnt, yeah it should spread and affect your system? I guess it depends on the type of poison a bit but even if it does only affect his arms, if that incapacitates them Luffy will be kinda in trouble if Magellan isnt down.
